I figured out this by accident and thought I would pass it along.
First of all, I always have a flavored filtered water in a gallon jug in the fridge because we need to drink more water and hubby hates the taste—so I add 3 tablespoons of vanilla extract or 2 teaspoons of raspberry, strawberry or orange extract to a gallon of filtered water (Britta)–no sugar just the extracts. Also if I don’t have a jug of drink mix like lemonade or koolaid or iced tea made up he will make a glass at a time which kinda screws up the proportion of powder for when I do make a gallon, so I end up with a little of this one or a little of that one left but not enough to make a full gallon.
So anyway yesterday I was craving something other than flavored water and I had enough lemonade mix to make 2 quarts and enough iced tea mix to make 1 quart so I decided to mix them and make a weak gallon of lemonade-tea. But I had no ice cubes and wanted it cold so I used the water I had in the fridge which happened to be vanilla flavored. Oh my! the resulting drink tasted like lemon meringue pie or lemon donuts! Wow…between the two of us that lasted about an hour!
So my recommend for you all today is IF you can tolerate vanilla extract–make some weak drink mix flavor and add the vanilla to the batch and YUM! Bet orange or strawberry Koolaid is good with the vanilla too! And it probably tastes like a Purple Cow with grape drink mix! (Purple Cows are ice-cream sodas made with grape soda and vanilla ice-cream…)
