I went to Confession this past weekend. I’m very used to the form of absolution that I think every priest I’ve ever went to for Confession has used - until this past weekend.
It wasn’t the typical prayer. I kept waiting for the “I absolve you” part. When he did get there, he said something along the lines of “I absolve and forgive you”.
Googling, it looks like Jimmy Akin would say that’s valid (Absolution Validity – Jimmy Akin). Another site would say no ( http://canonlawmadeeasy.com/2018/05...f-the-priest-changes-the-words-of-absolution/).
So I’m not sure whether I was absolved of my sins or not.
