The former vicar for clergy in the Los Angeles archdiocese has testified under oath that Cardinal Roger Mahony ordered him not to report allegations of a priest’s sexual abuse to police or to parishioners. In a deposition filed last Friday, Msgr. Richard Loomis said that the cardinal ignored his own archdiocesan policies in handling complaints about Father Michael Baker, who had admitted his sexual misconduct in other cases years earlier.

This part of the problem with the whole sexual abuse scandal. I would think it means we have only seen the surface of the problem. For all those victims that have come forward, how many more have remained silent, and how many more Cardinals, or Bishops have failed to follow new guidlines to report such abuse?

Until we can have full exosure and cooperation the problem will not go away. I really fail to understand how the tendancy to be a pedophile is missed during the seminary. Instead of trying to figure out if a potential priest is homosexual, perhaps it would be better to figure out if they are a predator. In my view all sex offenders are predators, and it matters not what their “sexual orientation is.”

For those who care or wonder: Insest occurs in 1/3 of all families. Think about it.😦
