The Justice Department dealt a stunning blow to former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Friday night, firing him just days before he would have been eligible for a lifetime pension after determining that he lied to investigators reviewing the bureau’s probe of Hillary Clinton’s email server.

“Pursuant to Department Order 1202, and based on the report of the Inspector General, the findings of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, and the recommendation of the Department’s senior career official, I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.

Making an enemy of the FBI worked so well for Nixon, I’m not surprised the Trump administration is following suit.
 
Firing Andrew McCabe like this is a new low for Trump. What a coward. It’s a punk move. He’s served our country for decades and he’s ripping away his pension? I hope McCabe’s one of the multiple reasons Trump’s family & friends all wind up in prison—it’s where traitors belong.

McCabe said it best, “This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally. It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel’s work.”

Trump was tweeting 3 mos ago about McCabe “racing” to reach full benefit status. He also has been concerned about whom McCabe voted for, even asking him outright at one point, and about McCabe’s wife’s politics.

McCabe reportedly found the conversation “disturbing,” , told Trump he didn’t vote and reportedly officials expressed concern that a civil servant would be asked how he voted and his wife’s political leanings be criticized by a president.

This reeks of Trump. No doubt in my mind Sessions felt pressure from Trump to do this 2 days before McCabe was going to retire anyway after over 20 yrs of service to our nation in the FBI. The most successful business venture in Trump’s life was “The Apprentice” reality TV show and now we have a president in the WH playing a Reality TV role.

A new cowardly low of many lows by this president. And I have no doubt more to come.
 
Wow, he must have been very, VERY naughty to be fired 2 days before he would have been eligible for a lifetime pension… 🤔

He’s gone for a very clear violation of trust and integrity.
That means he’s not around to get revenge, unless you think the rot runs very deep?

The firing appears to be done to send a clear signal to the rest of the DOJ/FBI that this sort of BS won’t/shouldn’t be tolerated.

I find it a breathe of fresh air, he knew not to lie.
Integrity needs to matter in the FBI, not partisan politics.

This is purely political, number one, and holding someone accountable should not included hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost pension benefits, number two.

This is obviously just the AG trying to save his own job.
