Former Justice John Paul Stevens suggests Kavanaugh should not sit on Supreme Court

I respect his opinion, Alan Dershowitz has given opinions as well in all of this.

Need we remember, Sotomayor or Kagan never were treated in this manner as Kavanaugh has been. In fact, basically nobody has been treated as Kavanaugh has. I would tell that to the former-Justice and see what he would say. The former Justice Kennedy I believe has referred to the lack of civility.

The Republican Party is a big government, welfare state party. So republican and conservative are not synonyms.
 
It was a Republican court that gave us and sustained abortion. Republican judges are only marginally better than Democrats.

As to Stevens has he called on Ginsburg to resign for actually making statements that reveal a political bias? The case against her is much stronger than against Kavanuagh.

Was a charge of sexual assault brought forth against either of them?
It was also a time in which bipartisan support was mandatory. And the idea of squeezing our guy through on a tie vote pretty much impossible.

The time of Obama was not mandatory.

Also, Dr. Ford’s accusations merit nothing, have no credence, are not believable. We can all have different opinions and mine is that they are nothing but a dirty trick.

Yeah, they’re borderline frivolous. Initially they were anonymous. Then we learned they were from decades ago and had been rediscovered or reconstructed with the help of a therapist. Also the way they were presented at the last minute to derail an otherwise smooth confirmation process was inexcusable.

The GOP is actually more of the big government party. The huge military they want is really costly. I believe when Ron Paul ran in 2008 he pointed out if you reduced military spending to 1998 levels the you could end the income tax. That is right no more income tax. All the conservatives who complain about income tax could have their way by just reducing military spending. But a military larger than the next six militaries combined is just too important to them.
 
And if the US scales back what do you imagine happens? Actually you don’t have to imagine. The 1930s demonstrated ably what cutting back military spending produced. It’s one of the grimmer ironies of history that if you want peace, you have to be prepared to pay for it.
 
Stevens rational seems to be that Kavanaugh shouldn’t be on the Court because can’t be impartial to the people that have called him a “rapist”. I wonder if that’s because Stevens doesn’t think rape is a big deal and so being accused of being one shouldn’t have given Kavanaugh any reason to get angry.

ISIS, other terrorists would give not a second thought to using their worse weaponry on us and if they should ever acquire nuclear war heads?

Even Rand Paul varies at some points with the father per this regard.

Also, Russia and China, really should not be trusted in this changing world.

Yes, we’ve got all of these bases around the world. We can look at that matter. Some are needed. We are over in Africa actually fighting terrorists. I’d have to delve into that a bit but we shouldn’t let them take over big countries such as Nigeria or Kenya.

This is quite off topic and all I will say on this.
 
I think as much as anything calling out the Democrats was Kavanaugh’s biggest mistake, and he seems to know it, if his WSJ op ed piece is any indication.
