I have been been visiting different religous forums and came across this one. The Catholic church and the Mormon church have interested me lately so I have been reading the posts regarding Mormons.

I must say I am surprised that there are a few individuals that used to be Mormons that spend a good deal of time each and every day – some it appears for years making comments against the Mormon Church. I can only assume there is a great deal of animosity/bitterness against the Mormon church to devote so much of their time each day answering each and every post that has reference to Mormonism. I always wonder about a person’s objectivity who is SO against something and devotes SO much of their time against something. I find it more interesing to know what a person is for rather than what someone is against. I recommend getting a better hobby. But alas… I am sure it will continue…

I am going to check out the Mormon talk sites. Perhaps there are some former Catholics who are now Mormon that can only speak out against the Catholic church that have the same fixation.

You make a good point. I too, think that it is rather unfortunate that so many spend so much time ripping something down. Reading some of the antimormon posts, one could get the conclusion that the lds church is the devil’s own church. When in actual fact, the lds church teaches a person to live a christian life by praying often and doing the will of god.

What to do? 🤷

You will not find many of those, I am pleased to say. 🙂

Want me to go through your posts and count the digs you have made against this board and the people who post here? Better yet, why don’t you do it. Maybe you’ll learn something about yourself.

Having not walked in their shoes, who are you to judge?

Better yet, Mormon troll alert!

yes. Anyone who has been deceived and escaped has an obligation to warn others. we have people who devote their lives to stopping communism because they grew up in it, people who fight racism and sexism because they have seen what it does. closer to this topic we have people who fight polygamy because they have witnessed first hand what it brings. I could go on and on but I think you get the point. Mormonism isn’t just “some church” that people casually choose like which restaurant to eat at or which grocery to shop at. It is blasphemous and teaches dangerous false doctrine. it has a history of deceptive marketing practices and outright fraud. Knowing the details of this how can I stand idly by and watch fellow catholics get preached to by LDS wannabe missionaries without speaking up? we are all called to spread the truth that God has given us.

interesting approach though to try and undermine the credibility of those who know. as afar as focusing on “tearing something down” you want to read JS-H in the PoGP where it calls the creeds an ABOMINATION in the sight of God and claims all who profess them are corrupt. that seems to always be the first lesson the full time missionaries teach. you know where they claim all other churches are apostate?

This is a Catholic website. When Mormons, however well intentioned they may believe themselves to be, come here to proselytize and do the “milk-before-meat” thing, it is incumbent upon knowledgeable Catholics to provide a caveat emptor for the benefit of fellow Catholics. That is not anti-Mormonism, it is providing the disclosure that the Mormons do not.

I suppose it would be incomprehensible for someone who doesn’t believe in the soul, and doesn’t believe false doctrines have any consequence.

You may not find them on the Mormon boards, but some of the most rabid anti-catholics that I have encounted are former Catholics. I have a formerl friend tell me that I’m going to hell because I’m Catholic. He is now Mormon. So it does happen.

The question that has to be answered is are they telling lies or the truth. If they are telling lies, then it needs to be corrected. If they are telling the truth, then it is not anti-mormon regardless of how it portrays the mormon faith.

For example, someone saying that Catholics worship Mary is a lie and anti-catholic. Someone saying that we pray to saints and dead people is the truth, but the definition of pray needs to clarified to what Catholics do.

Observer1,

If a person has kicked a life-threatening addiction to drugs, do you think it unreasonable that such a person would want to warn others against drug use?

BTW, the Mormons came here to a Catholic forum to spread their falsehoods. We did not seek them out.

Paul (a former Mormon)

A common claim that I hear from the anti-Catholic former Catholics is that they felt that the Church withheld Christ from them and that its legalistic system got between them and God. I hear the same type of claims from former Mormons. There is no way to counter that as that is what they feel.

Call the office of the LDS Presidency or talk to an honest LDS Bishop, ask them to read you their official position on abortion. When they tell you they believe their god will give divine confirmation to kill defenseless children in the cases of rape, incest, deformity, risk to the mothers health, and risk to the mothers life.(and you realize they are child sacrificers) then you will know why mormons should not be taken lightly. Conversion is death to your soul and death to helpless children. Go read Roe v Wade and Doe v. Bolton and you will see the reality that Mormonism is pro-abortion and has completely converted to abortion and done it in such a sly way that most unknowing mormons don’t even realize it. That is true danger…

And which way ends up with less abortions? The Mormons. Maybe if everyone consulted God there would be less abortions everywhere. Intentions don’t cut it. Results are all that matters. The catholic way, based on results, would seem to be the “TRUE DANGER” at least for babies!!!

I agree to some extent with the original poster. It would be great if we ex-mormons could simple show mormons what in addition we have. Look at John 6 and tell me if this doctrine is taught anywhere else but the Catholic church. Or who else can go to the great knowledge base that is the early church fathers ?

But perhaps it is as PaulDupre has said regarding the urgency when one has escaped a life threatening addiction.

The horrors and heresy of mormonism is just too real not to attempt to shake someone out of it. Well it worked for me and I am grateful for it. Perhaps the greatest of dangers of mormonism is its mind numbing banality. Again today at fast and testimony meeting at the mormon ward my wife attends, there was no worship of God. There were a couple of thank yous, and I know that god has a body, and I know because I feel. God was second best again to Joseph Smith. Sorry but we have a God given duty to speak up and even if we were to affect but one soul, then it would be worth it.

Church of the devil. Perhaps not, but a devil most certainly. He has a name and is called moroni and he seeks to sit on the throne of God, whilst his followers seek to succeed where Adam and Eve failed in the Garden of Eden - to become God.

But mormons are our brethren too. But it is not brotherly to let you continue in your heresy.

God bless,

Hal.

What about the mormon’s that come here attacking and insulting the Catholic church? Are we just supposed to sit back and let them?

Don’t get me wrong I know it goes both ways its just I think most of us on here are just trying to understand each other’s positions and I think some get alittle hot-headed at times.😃

Don’t worry; Catholic apostates (especially former Catholic priests who have apostatized) say even worse things about the Catholic Church. There are thousands of them. You can try this one for a taster:

I can find you loads more, if you are in the mood.

Kind of nice, right?! 😃

What is more nice is when we see mormons converting to Catholicism. This is happening in far greater numbers than Catholics leaving to become mormons!
Now thats nice hey!

Actually, there is no indication that that is true. All the indications seem to point to the opposite!

Coming to boards like this helped me understand that Mormonism is false. I’m grateful to ex-Mormons, both Protestant and Catholic, who helped me see the light about Mormonism. These boards do a great service.
