I voted for Perot twice and got interviewed at one of his rallies. I liked him a lot.
What was it about him that appealed to you, if you don’t mind my asking? I never quite ‘got’ the whole Perot phenomenon.I voted for Perot twice and got interviewed at one of his rallies. I liked him a lot.
And graphs. That man had some ears!!
That’s an interesting idea (having a second election when neither side wins a majority; I can see the need for it now).Perot got almost 19% of the vote, that’s going to throw things off. I was reading on that 1992 election, Clinton got roughly 43%, Bush in the area of 37%. Neither got a majority. I guess, in some countries, if no one gets a majority, then, there is a runoff between the 2 frontrunners.

I’d not forget, in 1992, Pat Buchanan challenged Bush for the nomination. Buchanan didn’t win any primaries but some of his vote tallies appear respectable if over 30%in some contests can be called that.

I know the “no new taxes” quibble with Bush… that wasn’t that big of a deal for me.
One of my favorites, too.He was my husband’s favorite President. I hope the two of them get to shake hands in the hereafter.
Yes, every once in a while you see a candidate like that; normally they don’t win but Trump defied the odds. Kind of a black swan event, in my view.I didn’t like either of the main party candidates who were running.
Perot was his own man, successful, outspoken, and kind of like Trump without the, um, personality issues.
