I was going to post a news article on this myself, but this thread beat me to it. Though I would have immediately dismissed such a claim about the sullying of the reputation of Pope Pius XII as a Soviet disinformation scheme if I had heard someone saying it, actually, when you look into this new information, it seems credible.

Look into it… There’s a lot of information out there. If nothing else, the initial reactions to Pope Pius XII by those who lived through the war were very positive. The Chief Rabbi of Rome converted to Catholicism, and took the name of Eugenio in honor of the Pope. Other contemporary Jews also praised the Pope.
