You’re right… perhaps we should use more biblical terms, such as “blind guides”…“snakes”… “brood of vipers”…“evildoers”…“white-washed tombs full of dead men’s bones”… “hypocrites”…“murderous and immoral at heart”…

Wow adowcday, how could Jesus spew such venomous hatred?
irenaus1,

God Bless You!!

**The reason we have allowed 50+ million innocent babies to be “legally” murdered in the US is because we are too scared to stand up for the Truth and to call the liars “blind guides”…“snakes”… “brood of vipers”…“evildoers”…“white-washed tombs full of dead men’s bones”… “hypocrites”…“murderous and immoral at heart” as Jesus did!
**

It’s time to stand up and call the snakes “snakes” and pray for them and educate them in the error of their ways because we love them and we love the innocent babies who have been slaughtered on our watch!!

**It’s out of love that we correct, not hate. If we didn’t care, we’d remain silent hoping to be accepted in their " enlightened & progressive" social circles like the ND President.
**
i guess the people who support abortion, directly in opposition to Church teaching, are to be commended and awarded honors?

Thank you Ambassador Glendon for being a true witness!

Sancta Marai, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

“Satanic attack”…“IGNORANT Catholics”…“promote the Culture of Death”…“mere pawns in the Pro-Death agenda”…“modern-day Judas’s”…“dishonorable traitors of Jesus Christ”

I really have no idea how we could think that inviting the President of the United States to a Catholic University should result in such outrageous rhetoric, even if he does support pro-abortion policies. When Catholics spew such venomous hatred for President in the name of religion, why should we wonder why the world just ignores us as irrelevant or fears us as violent sectarians armed with a gospel of hate. I’m watching the beginnings of a Catholic jihad, fomented by a number of our bishops, and it frightens me.
Hehe! If you had a point, you badly undermined it by committing the same crime you decry in others!
“spew venomous hatred” “violent sectarians” “gospel of hate” and my personal favorite “fomet jihad” are exactly the kind of exaggeration you claim to dislike.

Is it only wrong when it’s done by people who disagree with you?? 😉

Zenit has quoted the Notre Dame president here:

Father Jenkins responded: “We are, of course, disappointed that Professor Glendon has made this decision. It is our intention to award the Laetare Medal to another deserving recipient, and we will make that announcement as soon as possible.”

This could get interesting. Who would want the award on this occasion, given that they would be clearly the second choice to a brave, faithful Catholic? Surely a conscientious Catholic would just let it go begging? On the other hand, if someone DOES accept it, what would it say about them?

Fr. Jenkins has forgotten a basic survival rule: “When you find yourself in a deep hole, immediately stop digging.”

Blessings,

Gerry

I think they should ask Fr Corapi…👍 He would find something pithy to say to them when he refused…I like snarky clergy:D

You’re absolutely right. Even a lot of lukewarm Catholics won’t want to accept the medal this year, and the last thing the administration needs is to award another honor to a hard-line liberal.

yeah, Kmiec isn’t doing anything important right now… give him a medal.

First give him a chest to pin it on.
Some of your clever :rotfl::rotfl: comments absolutely crack me up!!

Anyway, we have a hero in the professor, when the world sorely needs one the most!

Catholics Bishops affirming the teachings of the Church is Jihad?

Good for her, Bishop Zubic in Pittsburgh also criticized ND for inviting him. Obama voted 4 times when he was in the Illinois senate to deny medical help to a baby that survived an abortion. He is one callous dude!

Itappears Notre Dame is competing with Georgetown in terms of how much prestige they can own as opposed to character.

Wouldn’t THAT be a letter! Fr. Pacwa would probably send a good one, too. Or how about Bill Donahue?

Bill Donahue’s response would probably be delivered nailed to a shillelagh…😉

What a courageous decision. And a smart one - the administration has been using the fact that she would be there to indicate that there isn’t really much of a problem with Obama being honored. There is no way she should be used to provide that cover. I am very proud that Ambassador Glendon has made this decision. We should all be proud that there are at least some prominent Catholics who actually live what the Church teaches. Most of our Catholic politicians are certainly not good role models. I am ashamed of ND for its behavior - to honor a man who is so much a defender and proponent of abortion is appalling. My family and friends who are alumni have stopped contributing. I hope others do the same.

Politicians first and Catholics last, alas. They seem to think faith is merely a photo-op. (An atittude not limited to Catholics, of course.)

I’ve only heard good things about Alan Keyes, he’s Catholic.

Good for her. If she would have tried a ‘teaching moment’ it probably would have gone over Obama’s head. His ego is so massive, I don’t think it would have fazed him!

I only hope Obama read her letter. He may be eloquent, but the truth of her letter speaks rings around anything Obama has yet to offer. She sets quite an example for other public figures who seem to deny their Catholic Faith when it suits their political agenda. Her letter is, without doubt, a lesson in priorities. God will certainly bless her. May we share her courage. Have you signed the ND petition, written letters, or spoken with follow Catholics about this? Even if Obama does give the commencement address at ND, he should get the message loud and clear from good Catholics that his policies are contrary to Christian morals and certainly not condoned by the Catholic community.

I too hope Obama read Glendon’s letter, though I doubt it would do much good. He is intelligent but he suffers from miseducation. He seems to think all disagreements are equal and that all truth negotiable.
