FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman remains in critical condition after Fort Worth police rescued her from a man who was repeatedly stabbing her. Police went to The Hills apartment complex after a neighbor named Colett Cline called 911 and said a man was trying to throw a woman off a balcony. Cline heard the victim screaming, “help me, help me!”
Officers forced their way into the residence after hearing screams when they arrived, too.
“They located a male stabbing a female. They opened fire on the suspect,” according to Sgt. Kelly Peel with the Fort Worth Police Department.
Shattered glass and a wooden board remain in a second floor window; a reminder of the tragic incident.
“I’m in shock that this happened,” said Debra Hapblewhit who lives nearby.
The man, whom police did not identify, died at a local hospital shortly after the shooting.
Residents who knew him said they’re surprised.
“He’s a very nice man. It’s all I can say. I never thought he’d do something like this,” said Hapblewhit.
Police haven’t released any information about the relationship between the man and the woman, nor have they released her identity.
Authorities also haven’t identified the officers involved in the shooting.

Thank God the police were there to stop this stabbing. Looks like deadly force was the only option. How frightening that would be to be stabbed as such. Prayers for all involved.

Watch the mainstream media completely ignore this story.

I wonder how long it will take before the “all police are bad/enemies of liberty/MAH GUNZ” libertarians like they have on the once-proudly conservative Free Republic will come out and defend the thug who got shot?

I just did a google search for the story, and I could only find it mentioned in local news and on conservative websites. No surprise since this doesn’t fit with the leftist agenda of the mainstream media.

Well, the OP comes from a CBS affiliate…and since when does any network report on local crime news? One woman being stabbed in Fort Worth does not qualify as earth-shaking, particularly when she survived and the law enforcement did their jobs well.

Network news is notorious for picking up local news stories, when it fits their ideological agenda. There’s been one of those cases in the news recently. Maybe you’ve heard of it - Trayvon Martin.

A couple of points. First, I’m fairly certain that the officers loudly and strongly demanded that the man stop and drop the weapon. This wasn’t mentioned, but even for the average Joe this is (or at least should be) standard practice.

Second, the headline gives the impression that there was a flurry of shots fired. The article doesn’t say how many shots were fired, but I suspect it wasn’t more than a few. Somehow I doubt that with the assailant within arms reach of the victim the police would risk an all out blazing of guns. Perhaps I’m reading too much into the headline.

Yep. They are very selective.
