The class begins September 28th! :extrahappy:

And I was able to rearrange my work schedule with another driver needing a weekday off. So he picked up Sundays and I’m working Tuesdays.

I am so stoked I can’t sit still. 😦

Would it be too much to ask for another prayer that I might serve the Lord well?

Wonderful! Welcome to the “official” part of the journey.

May you always serve the Lord well, and may He bless you abundantly.

Hello George! And welcome! I went through RCIA way back in 1995-96 and got Baptised, Confirmed and First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil of 1996! The greastest day of my life! I just checked your blog. Did you find a Latin Mass to go to in your area? I wish I did, but don’t have access. I don’t drive, so it is difficult to get around that.

Peace,

Gail

Hurray, George! I’m so excited for you. I had the same “I can’t sit still” feel when I first started RCIA. It’s absolutely wonderful. Have a great time learning about the Church! Ask questions, pray a lot and go to Mass as much as possible. Of course, we’re here for you to offer prayers and advise.

Thanks all. 🙂

Gail, there are two local parishes offering the Latin Mass. One’s about 40 miles from my home, the other is a sedevacantist parish, which is a lot closer.

I am just thankful I found a parish close to home offering RCIA.

Hey George - There used to be a Latin Mass offered around here across town, two buses to get there, etc. but it is no longer there. I would love it if there were one. I asked the Pastor at the parish where I go Sundays, but he was rather liberal, so no hope. They have a new Pastor now and I’ll ask again soon. The place I go for Sunday Mass isn’t the parish I live in but they have an 24-7 Adoration Chapel, so I can Adore right after receiving which is like Heaven, leastways for me it is. Do you ever go to Adoration?

Peace,

Gail

P.S. George, thank you for staying faithful and not going to the empty-seaters! Good for you! Keep it up!

Peace,

Gail

I tried to do some of it. Basically following others and hoping no one noticed I was actually mimicking others and really didn’t have much of a clue.

I didn’t receive communion, however.

St. Peter’s wasn’t an empty-seater (they were about 85-90 percent full, in fact.) They just weren’t offering RCIA.

Welcome Goerge. Prayers will be going out to you.👍

Thank you. 🙂

Mass was great this morning. I met Fr. Terry and Corinne, the lady teaching the RCIA course.
Isn’t it exciting?!? I just remember how pumped I was about everything when I was in RCIA.

Well George, it is the eve of the “offical” parts of your continuing journey to Him in the Church and His Sacraments! You must be nervous. I was.

I remember the joyful yet apprehensive excitment of my RCIA days! May God bless you abundantly in all your efforts. May He let His light and life fill your heart and mind with His Truth and His being! May He guide you peacefully to the bosom of His Church. And may He swiftly bring you abundant love for His Blessed Mother, Mary. May He give you His love to love her with!

Peace,

Gail

Yeah. A little. I just hope I get enough sleep.

Thank you. 🙂 If it’s not too much trouble, could you again please pray that I serve Him well? Believe me, I need whatever I can get.

First RCIA class was basically about introductions. They gave out the schedule and they also gave me a book: This is Our Faith: A Catholic Catechism for Adults by Michael Pennock. Anyone familiar with it?

I’m still in need of a sponsor. Hopefully next week.

Yippie! George got to his first class!

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Umm…I haven’t read the book they gave you, but I think it is a good one. I recommend Catholicism For Dummies by Frs. Trigilio & Brighenti. It is published by the same folks who do all the “For Dummies” series and in the same format. It will get you up and running in no time at all! LOL I wish it was available when I went through RCIA. It would have been most helpful. I hope you already have a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and a Bible. Those are the two books I got handed. I basically read my way into the Church, so asking me for book titles is risky. I have a small library in my dinky apartment and that’s no joke. Oh well, I’m a bookworm. Sue me.

I’m really happy for you George! Don’t worry about serving Him. Do it right where you are! Hand yourself over, (it’s called an oblation) and love Him. Let Him circumcise your heart. Warning: He’ll rip it in two and leave you bleeding and begging for more! Oh dear did I say that?

Peace,

Gail

P.S. For to those who love God, who are called in His plan, everything works out for the good. And God Himself chose them to bear the likeness of His Son that He might be the first of many Brothers! Romans, Chapter 8 or so.

I’m glad it went well! 😃

That is the same book we use at my parish. It is basic, but good. 👍
