This man was not just your average Muslim on the street. He was a self-proclaimed spokesman for moderate Muslims with the mission to improve the image of Islam. Hence the interest in his religion. The whole story epitomizes irony. It would be funny if it weren’t so tragic and horrible.

Just imagine , media is relating religion with each crime in US. It will look like this :

CONDENSED:
  1. A Christian woman is beaten every 9 seconds in America, the most Christian society on the earth today.
  2. Some 2 million Christian women are beaten and abused in America each year…the number could be as high as 4 million each year.
  3. In contrast, President George Bush [2003] puts the number at 700,000 each year. But, like his claim of WMDs in Iraq, the President’s data has to be treated with some circumspection.
  4. From 20% to 30% of the Christian women who are seen by emergency room physicians exhibit at least one or more symptoms of physical abuse.
  5. Christian male correctional employees have vaginally, anally, and orally raped Christian female prisoners in U.S. State Prisons
  6. 10% of the Christian victims were pregnant at the time of abuse.
  7. Sixty-six percent of women who became pregnant as adolescents were sexually abused as children. (University of Washington study, 1995)
  8. One in 3 Christian women is raped in her lifetime. (Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women, 1985)
  9. One in 4 Christian girls and 1 in 7 Christian boys will be sexually abused before age 18. (“Preventing Sexual Abuse,” 1986)
  10. Christian Women and girls ages 12 and up annually reported about 500,000 rapes and sexual assaults, almost 500,000 robberies, and about 3.8 million assaults.
  11. In 29% of all violence against Christian women by a lone Christian offender, the perpetrator was an intimate Christian (husband, ex-husband, boyfriend or ex-boyfriend).
  12. HONOR KILLINGS IN AMERICA? Of the 5328 Christian women murdered in 1990, FBI data indicate that about half or more of them by a Christian husband or Christian boyfriend.
  13. Young Christian women, between the ages of 16-24 in dating relationships experience the highest rate of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  14. A 1993 national poll found that 34% of adults in the United States report having witnessed a Christian man beating his Christian wife or girlfriend
  15. Not long ago, before secular law came to their rescue, women in Christian countries were the property of their husbands. As such they could be killed by their husband or sold in the market.
  16. Disobedient wives could be drowned, bridled, or flogged.
  17. In Christian countries flogging of disobedient women was so common that the size of the whip was regulated by law – no thicker than a man’s thumb.
  18. Pity the woman whose husband had a large hand!

Some facts about the abuse of women in the United States

by Sound Vision Staff Writer

Islam and Muslims have long been accused of mistreating women.

The fact is that such disgusting behavior does occur in the Muslim world, for many of the same reasons it occurs in the United States: a cycle of abuse in the family, socio-economic factors and jealousy.
Mistreatment and abuse of women, and wives in particular is condemned by Islam.

Prophet (peace ) said,“The one most perfect in his faith is he whose conduct is best and the best amongst you is he who behaves best towards his wife.”

Are disobedient wives treated better under Christianity than Islam?

From Washington Dispatch.com

Islam and Christianity – And Disobedient Wives

Commentary by Egbert F. Bhatty
February 23, 2004

In a recent piece published in these pages, Mr Paul M Weyrich, the noted conservative, blasted Islam because the Qur’an contains a directive for the husband to beat his disobedient wife.

Mr Weyrich opined that this situation “should make every adult – especially women – in our country rise to their feet in righteous indignation.”
I agree.

However, it is quite apparent that Mr Weyrich is unaware that a woman is beaten every 9 seconds in America, the most Christian society on the earth today.

whatever the number of women beaten in America – whether 4 million or 3 million or 2 million or 700,000 or just one – it is one too many!
Whence this violence against women in America, the stronghold of Christianity?

Matilda Joslyn Gage in her magisterial study “Woman, Church and State” [1893]: 305 encapsulates this perfectly: “From Moses to Paul, the Bible everywhere speaks of her being made for man, secondary to man, and under his authority by direct command of the Almighty.”

It is this superior/inferior, master/slave relationship which derives from these Biblical teachings that leads to the beating of women in the Christian tradition.

Islam, on the other hand, did not permit the flogging of a disobedient wife.

The media in America does make a big deal when a Christian leader commits a crime, so you are way off base there Muslim woman. This man, as I just mentioned, was a Muslim leader not just the average guy. And he didn’t just beat up his wife, he beheaded her, which is something that is highly unusual in non-Muslim countries.

I guess , he was not an Imam
( religious leader ).

I don’t think any media ever condemned Bible or Christianity or Jesus (p) when Catholics religious leaders were charged with serious crimes/ immoral acts.

If there were not so many videos out there of beheadings with someone screaming praise be to Allah so many of us would not assume this was tied to his religion… I spent a year in Iraq ive seen the belief system in action… spare me the false arguments drawing homicide stats with the assumption these murders were in Gods name as they are in all of these Islamic cases…

The media has spent much time ridiculing the Catholic Church and other Christian churches, so you once again off base. And, they have merely, in this case, given interesting background information of this man, which is the ironic fact that he is the founder of a radio station intended to portray Muslims in a more favorable light and improve their image in America.

The reason they have to behave like rabid dogs is they only have behind them lies. There is no truth in islam, there was no truth with mohammet, and it wasn’t Angel Gabriel who “visited” him, and he simply transposed a pagan god into his own creator god.
What about monotheism? If you believe that there is one God and not many, then you cannot say there is no truth in Islam (and be logically consistent, that is).

Oops, I said that incorrectly. Preview is my friend.

Again, this is just one example among countless others of abuse against women and children in Islam due to the degradation of all, except Muslim adult males, to less than human.
Yes, it was a very bad thing. But just one murder amongst thousands of the non-Muslim’s killings. I would say that it may be just .001 % of the murders going on in the US. Please do not make any case against islam. Islam did not allow it. Let the law take its course…

If this is truly denounced by Islam, then stand up and protest this loudly, vehemently, and repudiate the very notion of an Honor Killing.

Take the Inquisition torture tactics out of the socio-cultural context, as the Catholic Church did hundreds of years ago.

The Inquisition was about politics and culture, not Catholicism. It may be true that Honor Killings are also about politics and culture, not Islam.

But IF that is true then YOU have a responsibility to ACTIVELY fight this and set a different example. Until you do, I will never trust my daughter to date or marry even a non-Muslim from a Muslim country who has grown up in this culture. I will not trust my neighbors, and I will never set foot in any Muslim country, and I will continue to support forced democracy and forced removal of dictators in these countries.

Sociologically these cultures are in the Dark Ages. Catholicism was once in the Dark Ages. We left that behind. YOU have a responsibility to leave it behind.

** The case is still in court. Let the decision come. It will be utmost necessary to condemn the act after the verdict of the court. It is the important commandment “Thou shall not kill…”**

But you didn’t respond. Are you willing to fight to dis-associate Islam from the Dark Ages?

Your religion once had the most philosophically and intellectually sophisticated cultures in the world. Now, this is what the world sees.

**The reason is bad Muslim leadership. The Muslims have been sleeping for about 500 years. They have lost contact with islam. They have lost the grace of God. They do not know the beauty of the peaceful religion. The muslims majority is in the grip of religious bigots who have some wrong ideas.

That is not Islam at all. There could be a long list of their mistakes (misunderstanding of the religion). The most important is the belief against freedom of choice to adopt any faith.

The Msulims believe that any one can come into Islam. But nobody can leave Islam. Likewise, the stoning to death of the adulterers is illegal. The Muslims believe that any one who has not uttered the kalimah is a Kafir.

Iwould rather post all the bad things later in another post. If the Muslims will not desist from the bad unislamic beliefs, they will keep on suffering.

I admit that you are right about what you have written.**

Muslims do protest against atrocity , terrorism but media normally don’t cover their positive actions.

When any non-Muslim kills wife , media don’t relate the murder with religion but when a culprit is a Muslim , media relate the crime with Islam .

Can u tell me , in which country , wives are burnt alive by husbands in hundreds each year? I never heard from mainstream media who are these husbands …Muslims or Christians or Hindus. As it’s not taking place in a Muslim majority country , media is silent.
Here is a typical example of either absolute wilful ignorance, wilful submission of disbelief, or pure ugly lying - take your pick. Islamic law (shariah) , islamic majority countries, all this is commonplace under islam itself which is WHY, madam.

IT IS ALLAH’S LAWS that lead to this behaviour, madam, that is why islam is related to it. It is only ALLAH’S LAWS that do so.

Christianity has no CIVIL LAWS, madam.

That is no proof that the religion of Islam as such is the cause of these things. And something can still be derived from the cultural aspects of Islam even in a non-Muslim country.

The arguments used against Islam are of the same logical form & the same type as those used against, well, Catholicism in the USA or the UK; if they don’t convince us, why should they convince Muslims ?

For example: is Catholicism inextricable from treason because treason has often been committed by Catholics ? Is it fair to blame the Catholicism of those involved in the attempts on the lives of Lincoln, Garfield, Theodore Roosevelt, & (IIRC) McKinley for their activities ? By analogy with the logic of some anti-Muslim arguments, the answer would be “Yes”. Fair’s fair - surely ?

(BTW, this is not a defence of Islam)

It is an indication of a movement or perversion of a belief system that is wide ranging. Beheading is not an isolated incident in Islamic culture… in the name of God no less… If there is no condemnation then it is even worse it indicates that it is either condoned or tolerated…

What about monotheism? If you believe that there is one God and not many, then you cannot say there is no truth in Islam (and be logically consistent, that is).
I don’t think it’s logical to equate a pagan god with YHWH. Mohammet simply took one of the current pagan god’s, got rid of the rest, and there you have his one god.

Now, if by logically consistent you mean I should yes, they have one pagan god, and yes we have one God (YHWH), okay.

However, I can still say there is no truth in Islam as it is a man-created ideology and is seriously flawed as a consequence. That is logically consistent too.

Well I must differ with you on this point. The Church received much attention over the sexual abuse crisis and deservedly so, in my opinion. Catholics were rightfully appalled by the actions of those men called to lives of holiness. Ultimately, this attention may have been a blessing for the Church as we and the Bishios were forced to address this evil.

I would really like to see more outrage by the Islamic community regarding terrorism and violence as I do believe that Islam is not, by it’s nature, a violent religion.

I believe that the majority of Muslims are good people but even you, Muslim Woman, are side stepping these questions and simply pointing the finger back at Christians.

You have a chance to show the good side of Islam that I know is there.

Yes the teachings of islam did. Decapitation, abuse of women are just a few teachings from your prophet and his quran.

Wow how “positive” can this guy be. Way too “positive”

I think when you said there is no truth in Islam you were engaging in rhetorical language, meant more for emotional punch than accuracy. This distinction you’re making between a pagan god and a god is beside the point, really, because monothesim is simply the worship of one god. If you want to call Islam’s god pagan, go ahead but it’s not very meaningful or relevant here since it doesn’t alter their status as monotheists.

By the given definition, there’s no question that muslims are monotheists, and fairly rigorous ones at that since they deny the Trinity. Since we (Christians) are monotheists, it follows logically that that part of their religion is true; otherwise you’re denying monotheism.

It’s true that Islam is man-created in the sense that Mohammad was a man and, I believe, a false prophet to boot; but that doesn’t make all of it false for the reasons given above.

Sociologically these cultures are in the Dark Ages. Catholicism was once in the Dark Ages. We left that behind. YOU have a responsibility to leave it behind.
Quit picking on the so-called “Dark Ages” (the preferred term is “Middle Ages”). I think if you look into their history you will find they were a lot more enlightened than modern people give them credit for, especially when compared with our benighted age.

And what do you mean the Catholic Church was in the Middle Ages? The Church’s teachings don’t radically change from age to age, so hopefully we’re still in the Middle Ages, otherwise our religion is bunk.
