MSNBC has **Rev. Al Sharpton **for their religious council. Does that “One-Up” FOX and Fr. Jonathan???

This might be a change of topic, but has anyone notices Fox News has a higher percentage of Catholic anchors and commentators than the other networks?

Bill O’Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, the late Tony Snow, to name a few.

Also I am not aware of Fox news trashing the Church as some of the networks do on a regular basis.

I am sorry, you did not notice my “sarcastic” () note about your statement: I’ve never actually watched Fox News, but it’s easy enough to piece together where they’re coming from."

Without watching of learning about a subject, how can you make a judgment about “where they are coming from”?

Your obvious inability to intelligently inform yourself about current events is manifest in the absurd conclusion that “Americans are joyously clamoring for a catastrophic European war,”

Wise up!
Well, you’ve got things upside down. I live in America and I see first hand what is happening. I talk to people constantly and I meet new people every day. My perceptions regarding America’s drive to war are accurate. Just because I don’t subject myself to brain melting idiocy via television doesn’t mean I don’t read widely. I know exactly what Fox News is about. They’ve infected the airwaves and the internet just as much as they have television.

A catastrophic European war is precisely what a huge number of Americans are vocally supporting.

I’m guessing that, given the rudeness of your comment, you’re one of them.

Well…I guess we just run with different crowds. Like you I meet lots of people in my travels and enjoy social conversation. I have ZERO indications of any real Americans vocally supporting a European war.

Where do you see/hear these “Americans” you mention? Liberal college campuses? Occupy Wall Street rallies? Rolling Stone Magazine? Rachael Maddow? (Oops, sorry, I forgot…you don’t watch TV so you wouldn’t know her)

A little stream of consciousness take from a baby boomer who loved (still do) rock music:
Listening to you I get the music.
Gazing at you I get the heat.
Following you I climb the mountain.
I get excitement at your feet!
Right behind you I see the millions.
On you I see the glory.
From you I get opinions.
From you I get the story. – "Listening to You/See Me"
lyrics from The Who’s rock opera Tommy
Couldn’t resist the serendipity of marrying the Who’s lyrics with a 👍 for Fox News.

*Perhaps too effusive, as I take issue with a lot of things I see on Fox (especially when they feature people who represent the opposite of my positions). But give the network credit … because they have these, I am challenged, and probably benefit from those challenges in sharpening (and yes, sometimes adjusting) my positions on the important matters of the day.

“I see the glory” line - was not so much patriotic, as it was my recalling Fox’s excellent coverages of recent Papal elections and ceremonies. :)*

I don’t know of any Americans who want a European war.Basically we know whenever that happens a lot of Americans die saving them from themselves.

Well, between my random posts and the mighty Captain’s always lovable threads, I gotta say, the Who’s coolest song:

youtube.com/watch?v=QTheG4lh94I

Is perhaps unrelated to the Philosopher King’s triumphant lyrics:

“Instant Party (Circles)”

Circles, my head is going round in circles
My mind is caught up in a whirlpool
Dragging me down

Time will tell if I’ll take the homeward track
Dizziness will make my feet walk back
Walk right back to you

[chorus:]
Everything I do, I think of you
No matter how I try, I can’t get by
These circles, leading me back to you

Round and around and around and around and around
and around and around and around and around

And round and round like a fool I go
Down and down in the pool I go
Dragging me down

[chorus]

There one thing could kill the pain of losing you
But it gets me so dizzy then I’m walking right back again
Back to you

Time will tell if these dreams are nearly fact
Don’t know why I left, I’m coming back
Coming on back to you

Actually, perhaps that’s not altogether relevant, but we can at least agree it’s a bomb song!!🙂

Nah, I like you Zoltan, I’m just kind of messin’ around.🙂 When I say “catastrophic European war” I’m talking about NATO pushing Russia’s buttons. A war in Ukraine is a war in Europe, after all.🤷

Excerpt from Exiled Child’s recent post (lyric to a Who song):
Time will tell if these dreams are nearly fact
Don’t know why I left, I’m coming back
Coming on back to you
Given the ambivalent title to this thread – I don’t see why this can’t be equally relevant (and so NOT off topic).

I was thinking of a channel surfer … with Fox as one of the options. I am one of these. Though mostly now days my surfing takes me to a movie, ballgame, or history channel rather than another news venue (like I did when the Fox Cable News was “new”).

Ok…that’s cool. 🙂

I could care less about Russia and the Ukraine. I worry about Israel hitting the limit of it’s tolerance and preemptively blowing Iran off the map.

What I find interesting is how many Catholic anchors are on Fox and MSNBC.

Fox: Bill O’ Reilly, Sean Hannity, Megyn Kelly, Bob Beckel, Dana Perino, Eric Bolling, and Greg Guttfeld, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Judge Jeannine Pirro, Brett Baie, Alysin Camerota, Juan Williams, and of course Fr. Jonathan Morris.

MSNBC: Chris Matthews, Lawrence O’ Donnell, Pat Buchanan, Alex Wagner, Brian Williams, Mike Barnicle.

Yes, I noticed that too. Didn’t you know Catholics and Jews run the world? 😉 JUST JOKING. I did read somewhere in reference to the current make up of the Supreme Court that Catholic law schools are the best in the country. Whether it is true or not, I don’t know. In practice, Fox pays a little lip service to Catholicism if you watch carefully, but they don’t walk the gauntlet for traditional marriage or even right to life, believe me. Mind you I am not expecting them to be Catholic News. That is why we have EWTN and World Over! 🙂

A couple of years back (when I was a liberal) I used to watch and, yes, like, Chris Matthews, who sings like a bird about being a liberal Catholic - seems like he drives the others on that channel a little crazy with it. Of course these days my views on Matthews (and his brand of Catholicism) are a little harsher…

I love that joke too 😃 makes you proud to be Catholic when you have some bragging rights (forgive me Lord if I’m being too prideful).

I never heard about the law schools, but with 6 Catholic supreme court justices you never know.

Even though I’m a centrist Chris Matthews and his “liberal Catholicity” is enjoyable to watch, because then I listen to conservative radio host and former San Diego mayor Roger Hedgecock (who is Catholic) make fun of him.

My biggest problem with FOX is the soft pornography. I really don’t want to see anything about spring break or twerking (Hamnir).

That’s what makes this such a great country, Sally. You don’t have to watch anything you don’t want to see.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I wouldn’t believe the date on fox news.
That’s what makes this such a great country, Nelka. You can find the believable date on another cable news network. But…most folks would just use a calender. 🙂
