You, yourself said you purchased the DVD’s of this show. You are supporting this show. And while generally this show isn’t pornographic in nature, the episode in question in this thread certainly CROSSED the LINE. I’m horrified that I watched the clips. There are things that I didn’t want to know and that are in my brain forever. Honestly. I feel like I need to go to confession because I watched it, thinking “Aw, it can’t be THAT bad” but it was. Worse.
I said we OWN all the DVDs.

You’ve seen a few clips. I’ve watched the show from the beginning. I’ve watched some episodes (the “Stewie fertilization through birth” episode) many times.
If people saw a few clips from your family life, would every single one of those clips tell people that your family is a happy, healthy Catholic family? Of course not.
If someone listened to just a few notes of a Beethoven symphony, would they think it was a brilliant piece of music? Or if they saw just the fight and kill scenes from
Hamlet, wouldn’t they draw the conclusion that the play is nothing but violent fighting?
People have to watch the whole story, not just a few outtakes. It’s not wise to judge anything from just a few clips. I’m telling you, there’s a whole lot more to Family Guy than what you saw in those clips.
Did you know that my parents considered
I Love Lucy objectionable back when it was on TV? They wouldn’t watch it or let us watch it. (They objected to the mixed marriage and to all the screaming and fighting on the show. And they objected to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s life outside the studio.)
Yet today I think many of us would say that
I Love Lucy is truly a classic, with many great moments of comedy and touching family and friendship moments. My parents weren’t wrong to dislike it. They were approaching the show from their reference point. But they would have been wrong to try to convince everyone that the show was bad.
In the same way, I can’t blame people for being offended at
Family Guy. But I think they’re wrong to assume that the whole show is just one big offense against God, family, and religion. That’s not true. There are a lot of truly funny moments and situations. (Less after the first two seasons.)
BTW, I do NOT think the show is appropriate for children under age 13? maybe a very mature 12-year-old. But never for little children.
I also don’t think
I Love Lucy is all that good for little children. Too much screaming, just like my parents said.
