BRIEF

On Sunday Nov. 7, Father Allard might have had just enough to concelebrate but they didn’t have him up and in his chair Sunday morning as they would usually do for the Mass, since the official Masses at the Institute are temporarily canceled. “Getting people up” means washing them and preparing them too – takes some time.

Consequently, the Chaplain couldn’t wait until Fr. Allard was gotten up to celebrate his Sunday Mass [in the sacristy]. (We are still presently permitted to visit the wards and bring the patients Holy Communion an all day job when Masses are cancelled…] ). This leaves us currently in “wait and see” mode as to if and when Fr. Allard will concelebrate/preside.

I did bring him Holy Communion Sunday, and near the end of the day, had time to come back and spend 40 minutes or so with him. left him, he was laughing- sporting a grin from ear to ear. That in itself was a victory, because it had been more than 4 weeks since I last saw him laugh.

I have a couple of pics taken last Sunday - will post the rest later.

*BTW last Saturday, Nov. 6, I told Father Allard, "Father the people who we are linked with us through the internet aren’t only praying for you, now, they say they send you their love too.”(Understand here he hasn’t had really any semblance of an audible voice for the last 2 weeks ) Father Allard blurted out loudly in reply, “God bless them!” So each and every one praying for him, please consider yourself blessed by Father Allard.

Little Fact : Father Allard, OSM was ordained to the priesthood in 1952

Here’s a pic of the chapel where Father Allard presides privately and/or concelebrates with the Chaplain. Sundays the Mass is celebrated in the auditorium which is easily 20 times larger than the chapel. There are several benches w/kneelers available and a holy water font in the rear half - behind where I’m taking the pic from, but as 98% of the residents are wheelchair bound, this particular chapel is all about floor space.

…have to run to Mass now

Thanks for your prayers everyone and God bless you. :grouphug: … more pics later

Hail, Mary full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amonst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.

AMEN

Thank you. It would be nice to view a photo of Fr. Allard. All his sorrows turn into joy when he laughs, NeedImprovement. He is reassured, God loves him. Please reassure him, “Cyndi remembers you in prayer in a special way.”

BRIEF

😃

We received a little miracle today:

Father Allard successfully presided privately and celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Degree of difficulty was about a 9.2 out of 10 , but he succeeded just the same.

He’s a lot weaker now, and for the last 3 weeks the voice is pretty well non existent. That lack of voice was the most inhibiting factor. Father Allard seemed undecided as to whether he should attempt to celebrate. When I asked what could hold him back, he said (half-whispered/half almost lip-synched), “I have no voice”.

I assured him that cognitively he appeared OK and then confirmed for him that the Church only forbids a priest saying the Mass internally; not at an extremely low volume- particularly in private. He struggles more when reading texts now even though I always provide enlarged photocopies (to about the size of print in the Sacramentary) for him.

…A little reminder that we did have help from Heaven is that though he paced himself, Father Allard had no difficulty consuming the Sacred Species.

Looks like all that prayer (and praying hard 😉 ) paid off.

At the end of the Mass I said to our Blessed Lord silently, “Thank-you for this…I don’t know how many if any are left, but than-you for this one sweet Jesus.”

I’ll be seeing him tomorrow morning (Saturday Nov 14th).

Thanks for the prayers everyone and God bless you. :grouphug:

Dear Heavenly Father, please help Your faithful servant Fr. Allard. This man, who served You, Lord, as well as his congregation, is a source of immense inspiration for those around him. Please allow him some amount of comfort as well as the ability to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Our Father who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name

Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily Bread

For the little miracle:

All praise to Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts. He is immeasurable and infinite in His bounty. It is right to give thanks to God. God must be glorified by all his creatures and all the seraphim in heavens. “Holy, Holy, Holy.”

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for Fr. Allard and all those who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in Your healing presence.
Show Your mercy as You close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits.
May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking You for all Your gifts.
We ask this through Lord Jesus who healed those who believed.
