This is off topic, but what is Fr. Corapi doing? If he is a priest, why does he seem to have his own business selling things like how to go to Confession?

Katy,

I don’t understand your question. How is “teaching” equated with “selling”?

Others,

I’m reading some good and clear teaching here. Thank you, one and all.

I followed the link, and just found a website with all kinds of things to buy, no teaching. I am perplexed; I didn’t think you could be a sort of Lone Ranger priest. This is what it looks like to me, but there is a lot I don’t know about. Why would a priest have his own website selling things about the Church? I am truly asking, not necessarily criticising. It seems odd to me.

In my opinion Father Corapi is one of the great communicators (Fulton Sheen was another). I have many of his dvd’s and watch him regularly on EWTN. He is definitely an inspiring priest.

Those cd’s, tapes, dvd’s, books cost money to make. Fr. Corapi is part of a religious order (Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity). He cannot own anything personally (is under vow of poverty). I assume the money goes towards his ministry (he travels the world preaching) and toward the costs of living for himself and his brother priests.

I see what you mean, but as has been explained, the items support the ministry. They do not enrich Fr.

When Fr. Corapi conducts a parish mission, it is my understanding that he does not receive an honorarium. He brings his assistant, and his teaching materials are offered for sale. That is the sole source of income for his apostolate. It’s not just a marketing scheme. His stuff is dynamite; and he ain’t buyin’ no Mercedes with the proceeds!

He’s been there done… that listen to his testimony it is powerful

I don’t know anything about his order and what they are typically ‘assigned to’ (parishes, missions, missionary work ,etc.) but I would dare say that Fr Corapi, by the work he does and how he does it, is able to reach millions and share authentic Catholicism. He’s on fire for God and the Church and although I’d love to have him as a pastor and hear a homily each week, I think he’s serving the kingdom in a way that is desperately needed right now.

In my bible study class last week I mentioned that it may be more than coincidence that at a time when our Church is being hit hard - the priest scandal, shortage of priests, unorthodoxy abounding in many areas of the country and the world by both religious and lay people - we are also being blessed with some of the most gifted, outspoken, and orthodox Catholics we’ve seen in a long time (many of them converts by the way)…Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, Jimmy Akin, Rosalind Moss, Fr. Corapi, David Currie, Tim Gray, Jeff Cavins, etc. I don’t know God’s plan, but I can’t help but think we’re seeing it slowly unfold, and that He’s assuring us the gates of hell will not prevail.

Just another thing to keep in mind…those plane tickets cost a LOT Of money for the mission, so it’s not just for the materials. I’ve heard him talking about his flight/speaking schedules. This poor guy never gets any rest.

I love him. I actually love him also (on a more “human” level) because he also has a dog.

I’m not sure what vows he has taken, but as part of an order, I know a vow of poverty is part of it…but he has a dog, and he lives in a hermitage. He has also spoken of this. I don’t know how it all works, but God bless this priest for what he does!

He has 3 dogs! 😃 I saw him in buffalo and was thoroughly blessed by his passion for Jesus and His Church! Actually this priest has death threats all the time and he had 5 bodyguards with him that day! He received 3 threats while being there…ask me if I wasn’t concerned!

DEATH THREATS!!!? Whatever for? Or just crazy people who go after anyone well known?

Yep - crazies trying to derail him. Tools of the enemy.

I too, was in Buffalo to see him - even met Shoshana. ( Hi Shoshana:wave: ).

He does not gain personally from his sales, but uses this to grow his mission. He has no other financial means of support. He does not have a diocese of parish supporting him.

He offers these items, CDs and tracts etc, for sale because they are expensive to produce but are so powerful. The one on confession - amazing! I have it and many more.

I do not know if some o fyou about St Luke’s Mission in Buffalo but when I went to go see Fr Groeschel, Amy (the foundress and partner with another man) spoke quite passionatly. And she shared that it was through Fr John Corapi’s words that she felt impelled to start St Luke’s Mission. It is thriving and the Lord is providing for all the needs of the poor!

Of course Father John Corapi’s words were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

I’ve never been able to go to any of his missions in person. Sometime back, he had one in North KCMO. I had asked my mom about her helping me go there. But she refused to go that far for it, and i couldn’t afford the amount to get in anyway.

I do have his personal testimony tape, it’s quite powerful. Someday I want to get his Easter Triduum tape. Other than that, I think he has alot of other tapes out as well. For awhile the Leaflet Missal catalog had a listing of something like 24 or 26 of them. If they are anything like the one I have, they’d be great to have!!

i would love to see him when he comes to illinois in march. I’m really diving into Fr. Corapi, Archbishop Fulton Sheen and Fr. Larry Richards right now. They have truly inspired me as a Catholic. If you havent heard or read about them yet go do so. got it get it good!
