Good points, all. Again, I just wish this didn’t appear to be him pitted against the bishops out of bitterness regarding his present circumstance. Just having a very hard time shrugging off that sensation.Wolves can come at any level. We have even had some in the Papacy in the past. It is not the office of Bishop that sanctifies the person in it.
But there are other leaders in the church that behave wolfishly also. that whole crew that brought Obama to Notre Dame for an honorary doctoral degree come to mind. People pushing the ordination of women, people pushing the marriage of same sex couples, people defending abortion etc, etc. Catholic politicians that publicly defy the faith.
Acts 20:28-31
28 Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God which he obtained with the blood of his own Son. 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
Paul is addressing the priests in this passage.
No. The Church is infallible and inviolable. Only the sheep get eaten.
Wolves among the sheep scatter the flock, and endanger souls (as Paul states above). No amount of wolves can destroy His Holy Bride, but a lot of lives have been damaged by the departure from the Truth.
The faithful need to be educated so that wolves can be recognized and avoided. They are real, and they are dangerous.
