If you get a chance any of you to watch EWTN’s Holy Hour for Priests, it is wonderful.

We need to pray for Father Corapi and all our priests. Daily.
I’m with you Miriam. Praying for all of our priests, and Father Corapi…
It saddens me.

I actually dreamt about him last night. He was at a table (something like a book signing table) and I walked up to him and told him in typical St. John the Baptist fashion, REPENT!
Disturbing dream.

Even if SOLT doesn’t have all the facts, whatever they do have is strong enough for them to confidently make such bold statements. I think at this point John Corapi’s impact on the laity will be small. 5,000 fans? Average Joe’s have more on youtube or facebook. The more he moves away from the priesthood the more the Orthodox Catholics still following him will turn away. And those that continue are like cult members who can’t be reasoned with.
I’m afraid the last sentence in the above quote is not at all plausible - not realistic, particularly in light of his most recent video which was referred to both in posts # 266 and # 273 .

Here’s what John Corapi told his audience towards the end of the video :
" transcript From Blacksheepdog video:Changes and Future:
“ I want to leave you with a final thought … don’t be sad and don’t be mad. And don’t be bitter and don’t be cynical , and love the Church … No matter what ! Remember you follow Jesus Christ and his Church – you don’t follow me ! You love the Lord Jesus Christ and you love his Church, above everything else .

I come way down at the bottom of the list – if at all. And I want to encourage you to keep your priorities straight : Always love the Lord Jesus and always love the Church, because that’s where your salvation lies …”
So, the “*Orthodox Catholics *( ) still following him will” not “turn away”, because he advised them not to.

One downside to the internet is that the veritable glut of information available , leads us to treat it as an absolute truth at times . We believe it because we read it or saw it on the internet … not always a sound way to look at things … can’t always be considered the essence of totality .

A lot of people are unaware to what extent things can be manipulated/changed/morphed using current technology , and the broadest venue for reaching people with the latest technology is the internet.

An example of where technology is at today:

I have a friend who’s a member of ACTRA . He was called in to do a voiceover for an unfinished announcement which was to be broadcast. He didn’t re-do/re-record the entire narration. He only continued where the previous narrator had stopped due to illness.

He told me after he’d finished, they ran some software apps which made his voice sound like the one who’d begun the narration .

He told me, “You wouldn’t believe what they can do in the studio today … I think they could turn a dog’s barking into a human voice !”

He also said to those recording the narration , “You could have done this yourselves - without me. Why did you hire me to do it ?” They told him that the rules stipulated the voice (original one) had to come from a member of ACTRA.

That is a very small snapshot of what can be done with media materials today in the digital domain.

I’ll wish everyone the best and God bless .

I think I’m experiencing a cumulative effect from all the captious commentary - which has reached a point now where some people are insinuating a personal knowledge of John Corapi’s intentions - which surpasses all of SOLT’s knowledge combined.

It’s time for me to unsubscribe , because this most recent comment

Its possible and in my opinion likely this man, as wonderful as he was at preaching the Gospel, never had a true calling to the priesthood. …
… whether the author is aware or not , has the potential to wound not John Corapi, but rather the priesthood and the Holy Catholic Church . The author’s opinion presupposes a knowledge superior to that of the Holy Spirit and to that of the bishop who ordained Fr. John Corapi.

I can hear my Blessed mother calling - telling me I’m up way past my unsubscribe time. I have to leave before I start saying bad things (:doh2:)

… That pedal on the left guys - we call that the brake.

God bless all … (Hail Mary said for John Corapi ; Hail Mary said for his accuser).

I was giving my impressions and my opinions -no where did I claim I had personal knowledge. What I stated was simply what I personally am drawing from the information out. No where did I claim my opinions as facts, nor would I. Just what my “gut” is telling me, nothing more. People are free to form their own opinions.

Personal opinions don’t count when one speculates that Corapi does not have a vocation to the priesthood…

This is beyond boundaries…this whole thread is beyond the boundaries of charity.

May our sins be strung out…but maybe…we were not really called to be catholic!

“He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd.” John 10:12-16.

I think we should listen to the voice of Christ in this matter. The old adage “Wolf in sheeps clothing” I think is very important. Although John Corapi thinks he is a sheep dog, those eyes are the eyes of a wolf.

Christ is the shepherd. John Corapi has fled the sheep. Where is his humility? His pride is all too evident. There is but one flock and John Corapi has voluntarily left it. He needs our prayers, but please do not follow him into the jaws of the waiting wolf.

Shoshana clearly I have upset you, that was not my intent. As far as not being called to be Catholic -all of us are called to be Catholic. A better comparison would be marriage. Some go into marriage for the wrong reasons, or too hastily, or without really understanding the commitment.
I’m not saying John Corapi *may *not have been called to the priesthood because of any sins he may have committed. *If *he was not truly called that doesn’t make him a horrible person or a terrible sinner. I don’t want to upset you more. I just want you know I was saying these things to be nasty, far from it. If the reality is he was not called then this would make a lot more sense. Maybe the man felt trapped? Who knows. Again, I’m sorry if I upset you.

Father Corapi never said he was leaving the priesthood. He has said that he is still a priest. He was only suspended from his public ministry, and he has accepted that decision.
That acceptance has been twisted by reporters and bloggers into the claim that he has or is leaving the priesthood. It is not even clear that he has resigned from SOLT,since Father Sheehan has ordered him on July 5th to come to the regional office.

He hasn’t left the priesthood and does not intend on doing so.

He hasn’t disobeyed the Church. SOLT does not represent the Church’s authority.
But the SOLT *does *represent the Church’s authority for him. He is a professed member of the Society which he freely joined. His superior in the SOLT is the legitimate authority who can state what he should be doing. The bishop where the SOLT is located has also said the same things.

In obedience, he should not be preaching or teaching. He should not be celebrating the sacraments in public (which it appears he hasn’t done in quite some time anyway.) And now, the society has asked him, again under obedience, to return to TX. Since he has not done that and says he is not going to, he is in disobedience and we as faithful Catholics, should not be following his direction.

He said himself on his video that the last 10 years have been very difficult! So whatever has gone on with him, it has been going on at least 10 years, which is half of his time in the priesthood, is it not? This didn’t just suddenly happen, and we of course will never know the whole backstory, how long has SOLT been asking him to come back and be a part of the community.

No one is stating that we know what is in his heart and mind. We have only his words and his appearance to go by.

But I think I will stop here. There is nothing new that he could say or do except going back to his order, that would convince me that he is in repentance, and based on this video, that is highly unlikely. I feel very sad for him, and I will keep praying for him and for all priests and Bishops. I am greatly disturbed at the people who criticize the SOLT, as though somehow they are to blame for one of their order being so far off the track that they must declare him unfit for ministry! Why would the order have suspected that anything this untoward was going on? They trusted him and they trust the rest of their members to fulfill their vows to Christ! It is John Corapi’s free will that has gotten him into this mess, not the SOLT, which were just going about their business as any religious order would. Let’s not blame them for what Corapi has chosen, please.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion,
Have mercy on us and on the whole world.

I will not make a decision until more is actually known. I do think Fr. is in great need of help. I also thing his community is doing him no favors. One way or the other, I am afraid he is ruined. If he goes back to community, he will never be heard from again. If not, we might have to watch him slowly decay. It is a loose loose situation.
Ruined in this context implies that he won’t be able to make money preaching. But is that what is important? I think that even if we never do hear from him again, if in going back to his community he regains his love of God, his strength, his humility, than he won’t be ruined, he will be saved. It is the slowly decaying in public that I think will be worse for him.

Poor man. St Francis de Sales (patron saint of writers and publishers), pray for him!

YES! Thank you.

😦 I agree. Yes, he might not be able to preach if he returned to his community, but so what? St. Therese never preached publically, she lived a hidden life within Carmel. And yet she is the patron saint of missionaries. It may have been God’s plan for him to preach publically, but sometimes as we grow, God asks us to different things than we expected to do. St. Jane de Chantel was a wife and mother of 8 children, and then her husband died. After her children were grown, she became a nun and founded a new order. If God wants him to retire and live a life of quiet contemplation, then that is where he will do the most good for the Kingdom. I’m not saying it would be easy. It may very well be devestating, just as I’m sure it was devastating for St. Jane to become a widow at a young age with eight children to raise. Jesus told St. Peter that when he was old, someone else would dress him, and take him where he did not want to go.

People have been converting to Catholicism for two thousand years, long before Fr. Corapi was even born, and the will continue to convert, after he is dead.

Fr. Corapis soul may, or may not, be in trouble; and his mind may, or may not, be unhinged, but: This thread has degenerated into a self-congratulation fest: slapping each other on the back, and telling each other how right you are. Theres no REAL charity with most posters here: just smugness. Talk about character assassination, and violation of the Eighth Commandment!
Just remember that the Eighth Commandment covers the needless spreading of character-damaging TRUTH. Gossip…

Some of you are wallowing in something that`s spiritually unhealthy.

Nobody here knows for sure what`s going on; so how about backing off, and acting like charitable Christians, instead of like a verbal lynch mob!

Do you feel this was the most charitable way of dealing with what you sense is a lack of charity?

I ask this sincerely because I find myself the least charitable when I am facing others lack of charity.

I have a hard time not letting the lines blurr my own behaviors. 😊

(The more people try to make sense of and unravel their own feelings and confusion over this, and I include myself in that group, the more in absolute awe I am in over Our Lord’s profound Mercy, and Love cause we all are falling short in so many ways, esp in how we are treating each other and those that we disagree with, or whatever. It’s like it can bring out some sort of human nature to be competitve over who is more right, or more charitable, or more “something”. It has me thinking and looking at my own attitudes)

There is such a thing as “false charity”. Sometimes calling a spade a spade without trying to be offensive btw, is the truest charity there is. My mantra as of late is: “Jesus was not a wimp.”

As far as Fink’s comment, I do understand where he is coming from. Actually, this thread should probably be closed. I am sorry, but no one knows the inside scoop on Fr. C. I wouldn’t put him on trial, convict and execute him quite yet.

.
So that is the key to the most purest sense of charity? To call a spade a spade without being offensive?

I guess Im trying to get my head around what is authentic charity and what is more of that “false charity” you mention.

It’s a high bar, authentic charity. 🙂

Is Corapi making movies now?

I am not sniding (sp?) John Corapi. But since you mentioned that the black sheepdog stuff may be a product of satan, Did you notice how much closer he is looking like Anton Levey??? seriously I am not being nasty just look at him in his new video he looks scary. I think he is being influenced by satan and he don’t realize it. Could that be the reason why he is going through the metamorphosis we are seeing? satan finaly winning the battle and called voctory? I am seroius he is looking more and more like Anton Levey and it is bothering me. He looks awful in that leather jacket and just looks like nothing he was. There is more to this than his will, I really think he is playing with fire and satan has been beating him up for ten years and won. I still think Corapi’s pride did it but he was not alone he was influenced by satan. My opinion.
That could very well be the case and it’s scary. It doesn’t appear that all the bad is behind him. As much as I worry about his soul, I worry more about the multitude of souls Satan might possibly drag to Hell using Corapi as a tool.

While discussing his past don’t neglect to question the present and future Corapi.

I’m sure you didn’t mean anything disrespectful here, but let’s keep comments charitable so we can keep this thread OPEN! It’s really been a helpful discussion for so many people 🙂
When I saw that advertisement I actually had to stop for a moment and look. Then again Corapi never received advanced combat training in the US ARMY (he was a clerk/typist) so I should have known better.
