Is Fr. Nicholas Gruner still considered a Priest in good standing with the Church? Some Church officials say he is not, but Fr. Gruner suggests volumously that he has never been relieved of his office or duties.
%between%Finally, in recent years there has been a certain lack of clarity regarding the priestly status of Fr. Gruner. According to the the Congregation for the Clergy, his priestly faculties (jurisdiction permitting celebration of the sacraments) have been suspended and his appeal of that suspension rejected by the highest Church court, the Apostolic Signature. However, I understand that he continues to publicly celebrant the sacraments, justifying it by arguments for the canonical invalidity of his suspension. What efforts he is making to settle this matter is not known.
Why would I believe what Fr Gruners website has to say about him any more than I’d necessarily believe someone who avowedly had a grudge against him? Both are equally likely to be biased. What I would suggest to everyone who is unsure about Fr. Nicholas Gruner’s status is to go to his website www.fatima.org and read about it yourself. But before you check into it yourself, make sure you take your rose colored glasses off. If you believe that every single opinion, statement, insinuation, or alleged position, of a Cardinal, or even of a pope, is above question or criticism, then you are a blind sheep and I pray that you open your eyes. If you believe that EWTN is the infalliable magisterium of the Church, then you are certainly in trouble. What I’m getting at is you need to at least consider the possibility that we are living through the most confusing and dangerous time in the history of the Church. Please do not blindly accept and spead the calumnious lies about Fr. Gruner, but instead examine his case and make an informed judgement. If you do this, I am almost certain you will come to the same conclusion I did. Fr. Gruner is persecuted because he tells the truth. He is not suspended or unfaithful to the Catholic Church.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
Blessed Francisco Marto of Fatima, pray for us!
Blessed Jacinta Marto of Fatima, pray for us!
By the way, Fr. Gruner’s work and his Fatima Crusader magazine have the Apostolic Blessing and approval of Pope John Paul II !!! Fancy that.
Fr. Gruner’s website states that the Consecration to Russia has not taken place and that the full Third Secret has not been revealed. That is the source of the conflict. And while someone certainly can attempt to read both sides of the story in regards to Fr. Gruner’s suspension, I hope people keep in mind that the arguments saying that the Consecration has not taken place and that the Third Secret has not been fully revealed have nothing to do whatsoever with whether or not Fr. Gruner is suspended. The arguments stand or fall on their own.Well, I can’t speak for others but I am very much aware that EWTN is not the Magisterium. That said, I’m looking for an objective, factual accounting of what Father Gruner’s status is with the Church and what the issues are if he is not in good standing? One item that I’ve read online is that Father Gruner disputes the Holy Father’s consecration of Russia to Our Lady. Right now I’m reading “John Paul II: The Pope Who Understood Fatima”. According to the author, Eduardo Siguenza, Russia was consecrated to Our Lady on March 25, 1984. Sister Lucia, one of the Fatima seers, confirmed that the conditions were fulfilled, unlike previous attempts at consecration.
So does anyone know if this is the cause of the conflict? Also, does anyone have an objective link that can articulate the facts?
Witness To Hope
Any armchair cannon lawyers (or real ones) who can verify that an appeal would suspend the effect of the Bishop’s order?Fr. Gruner responded with a detailed defense of his position, and when 30 days elapsed without a reply from Bishop Forte, he filed a formal appeal against the order, as required by Canon Law. The appeal suspended the effect of the bishop’s order, allowing Fr. Gruner to continue the work of his apostolate.
hmmmm, to take HIS word based on HIS website does not sound like a reasonable unbiased solution. Does it?What I would suggest to everyone who is unsure about Fr. Nicholas Gruner’s status is to go to his website www.fatima.org and read about it yourself…
Have you asked them to remove you from their contact list? If you have just mark all their mail ‘return to sender’ and they should get the hint after a while.I’m kind of scared, because I receive mail from his Fatima crusader movement. They keep on sending me stuff and I don’t want to anymore. I’m not sure about Fr. Gruner and his movement. They may be disobedient.
I haven’t. Should I send them a snail mail reply, saying I don’t want them anymore? When I do this, should I write ‘return to sender’?Have you asked them to remove you from their contact list? If you have just mark all their mail ‘return to sender’ and they should get the hint after a while.
I’d do both - mark all their literature ‘return to sender’ and dump it in the nearest mailbox AND specifically write them a separate letter stating that you wish to be removed from their mailing list.I haven’t. Should I send them a snail mail reply, saying I don’t want them anymore? When I do this, should I write ‘return to sender’?
Sorry, I haven’t tried these things.
And if we’re not sure about the writings or personalities of Luther or Cramner or Calvin, are we supposed to read them and make up our own minds without regard to what the Church teaches? If someone thinks that Father Gruner is saying something contrary to Church teaching and they heed your advice to read his work and make up their own minds they commit a mortal sin against the Faith, not because of Father Gruner and his writings but for placing their own ability to discern the truth above the teaching authority of the Church. How is this different, in spirit, than protestantism? What I would suggest to everyone who is unsure about Fr. Nicholas Gruner’s status is to go to his website and read about it yourself.
From the USPS.com website:I’d do both - mark all their literature ‘return to sender’ and dump it in the nearest mailbox…
RETURN TO SENDER. Return To Sender (RTS) mail is labor-intensive and time-consuming. Two USPS areas - Eastern and Southeast - have implemented productivity initiatives to reduce manual processing of RTS mail. And that will reduce costs.
The Eastern Area is applying a yellow sticker to each RTS mailpiece and checking off the endorsement.
The Southeast Area is consolidating RTS mail by endorsements, processing it on automation machinery and spraying the “reason for return” endorsements in red ink on the envelope. The endorsement is located above the delivery address and below the stamped area, on the right side of the envelope. It’s important for field managers, clerks and carriers to recognize the new RTS endorsement formats.
I usually mark unwanted mail as “RTS For Reason Shown: Article refused by recipient – sender hasn’t gotten the clue yet.”The RTS mail will read “Return To Sender” in red ink followed by one of these endorsements: “Undeliverable as Addressed,” “Attempted, Not Known,” “Insufficient Address,” “No Such Number” or “For Reason Shown.” If it says “For Reason Shown,” a handwritten explanation will appear underneath.
This doesn’t quite make sense. Is he suspended because he is not incardinated - which seems to be putting the proverbial cart before the horse - or because he continued to say Mass etc. even though he was not incardinated? His sole crime is that he is not incardinated into a diocese. And why is he not incardinated into a diocese? Because whenever he finds a Bishop to incardinate him, his enemies in Rome - the modernists - send a letter to that Bishop telling him not to incardinate Fr. Gruner. That is his crime for which he was suspended.

Once again…isn’t this HIS website? People - it’s impossible to get unbiased news from a website of the person you are defending. Here’s a link to the sequence of events and some of the details:
