Creative Minority Report is reporting today that Fr Pfleger, recent recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from Cardinal George, called for women priests during last Sunday’s homily.

In an apparent slap at Cardinal George, Fr. Pfleger also calls for women cardinals.

The original video can be seen here: youtube.com/watch?v=3HNOsR4ZaTc

Also, Fr. Pfleger’s Holy Thursday Mass contained a very irregular eucharistic prayer, which can be seen here: youtube.com/watch?v=KjMWbQ7UXOE

Cardinal George needs to do something about this affront, particularly considering the honor he bestowed upon Pfleger not that long ago.

Praying for Fr. Pfleger’s conversion.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

It gives me no pleasure to say it: I told you so. The man is a heretic.

While there can never be women priests, it is entirely possible to have women Cardinals. The position of Cardinal is man-made and does not necessarily need to be limited to the ordained or even males.

Whenever that guy talks, I think of a straight jacket and him babbiling to himself in a room with padded walls.

Yeah, it’s not an intellectual response to him, but oh well.

Thank Goodness for new media such as Youtube so that these types of sermons are dragged into the light. We have similar problems in our own Diocese. I know of at least one local, wealthy, “cult of personality” parish that does not put the priest’s sermons on the web, even though devotees of this much-adored priest have long asked for this. The sermons are often peppered with backhanded slaps at the Pope, references to the restoration of tradition as “going backwards”, and outright defiance of the Bishop. Off the pulpit, the priest has said that “the majority of theologians believe women may be priests” - with no reference to the unequivocal position of JPII and the Magisterium. He is not bombastic like Pfleger, and much of what he says is quite good. But does the subtlety of a defiant priest make him less or perhaps more dangerous? “For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed.” (John 3:19-20). Encourage the posting of sermons on the web.

that is sad… God grant this priest a heart of piety, humility, and orthodoxy.

Praying for more like Fr. Pfleger.

Surprise, surprise! A diSSenter who is a heresiarch?

Whodathunkit?

You could pray for him or simply go to the Liberal Catholic Church or the Episcopal Church or the Methodist Chruch and have your women priests and Bishops…

I thing the good father is right on. Plus he seems to give a great sermon, wish my priest was as animated as him.

And when did the Church become so close minded that merely advocating for women priests is Heretical? Should we never challenge the decisions of the Church? As I remember my history, the Church condemned those that wanted to publish the Bible in non-Latin languages. That was seen as heretical at one point. Then it was condemned for a priest to do non-Latin mass, etc. Change has happened in the Church and will continue to happen.

Interesting, then, that the Church was the first to do it. And, of course, the Bible was in Greek before it was translated into Latin with the blessings of the Church.

I think the Bishops who have served over Father Pfleger have failed in guiding him.

From what I have experienced in my life when a priest handles an agenda or confronts a situation that is emotional, such as; abortion, the poor, scandals etc… the emotions can become quite strong and blinding. I think it is the duty of the Bishop to spiritually guide the priests.

It appears to me that Father Pfleger once upon a time decided that his approach to evangelize would be ‘when in Rome do as the Romans’. This is good, but, there is a line and Father Pfleger blinded by his emotions and dedication has long ago failed to see that line which now appears so vague to him that it is invisible. He is lost and needs to find his way back. Where is his Bishop?

This reminds me of a priest in the Dominican Republic who was very famous and outspoken. A young priest. He had been assigned to the parish of the poorest neighborhood of the capitol. He was taking on the war for the poor and their rights. He was very emotional and dedicated and often in the news. Once he went a little too far and he defended himself in the name of the poor. The second time was the last. He was removed from the parish. He was heart broken. He was in the market sort of speak for a parish to request him but no parish requested the good father. He had become too political and too rebellious. Finally, I heard that he was working at a parish and in an interview he stated that he was fine at his new parish. He needed to be transferred from his other parish and it did him well. He was getting so involved that he was loosing his vision.

A similar thing happened with another young priest. But, he was not as famous yet his immaturity showed in dealing with his vocation. He was sent to serve in Rome.

Bishops, need to take the responsibility that is theirs to guide their priests, especially those who are dealing with, what I would describe as emotional agendas(abortion, war, scandal, poverty, illness). How can one expect a person that has been blinded to find his way. It is always easier to condenm than to take responsibility. A Bishop is in command and should act upon his authority to guide their priests and not permit intimidation due to the fame of a priest. Of course, I recognize the debility and responsibility of the priest but I also recognize the responsibility of the Bishop.

I also think that it is worth noting that these things happen and many similar to these and they just simply need to be addressed when they do. The faithfuls and their leaders are not perfect but, when we encounter problems we simply need to address them. There are people, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, who immediately take advantage of these situations to criticize the Church but this is illogical. Problems simply need to be addressed with love and charity and of course, responsibility.

I will certainly pray for Father Pfleger.

Peace,

Abba

What about this applauding congregation? The dissention runs all the way down to the laity. Something should be done for the Church here in America.

I don’t think the Church permits laypeople to make findings of heresy. They may bright concerns to rightful authority, but beyond that they are not permitted to go.
