Priest, author and EWTN television show host Fr. Thomas Dubay, SM, died on Sept. 26 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.

You know, I don’t really know much about Father Dubay but I am sure he was probably a very wonderful and holy priest. I hope that one day I can make it to Heaven so I can see him.

When I asked my priest for spiritual direction, he recommended I read some Fr Dubay. I pass on that recommendation to anyone I can!

Father Dubay was one of my theology professors. I studied under him for two semesters. He was inspiring and yet so down to earth. Even though we had not been in touch over the years, as I moved on in my studies and to different cities and countries, I always took with me the great love that he inspired for the mystical life. I feel that I have just lost a great part of my personal history.

For those who never had the honor and pleasure of meeting him, I can assure you that he was everything and more than what you saw on EWTN. He was charming, polite, funny, prayerful, an excellent communicator and educator and a memory that you took with you long after you finished his courses.

I will miss not having him around.

And his lectures on EWTN are easy on the ears and really help understand the Church’s teachings and the Church’s interactions with our human nature. And his manner is [was] kind with a great sense of humor.
