The Lincoln model is absolutely amazing. Every parish and diocese in America can nearn from what is being done there.

This would sound uncharitable, but I would say she is just another disgruntled blogger I don’t care about.

We are not supposed to be engaging in looking into or predicting the future

Says who? While divining the future through unscrupulous means is not good, making harmless predictions about the coming year is harmless…

Says God. In the Bible,

And explained in Catechism

Holy Father Pope Francis teaches us the devil is very polite and pleasant initially

We’re not supposed to engage in divination, meaning mystical mean of trying to gain knowledge.

Predicting the future is something that none of us can manage without if we’re going to sensibly plan for the future.

Predicting the future in this form is divination.

so calendars are evil? thats essentially what you are saying… how do you work, if you do not predict your work schedule?

Like many things therein, careful interpretation may be required. We have a strong planning inclination. We need to estimate and make judgements about the future. Superstitions and palm reading is another matter of course.

What makes this form different from other predictions?

For example, my political predictions on my health and on the future of healthcare in the U.S., inform my choices now.

Personally, I think he’s a very interesting source on traditional Catholicism, which is something I do have an interest in. But when he talks about “liberals” I usually start to wonder what he’s talking about - as someone who spends a lot of time with a lot of liberals, I’ve never heard of a lot of the things he claims liberals want.

Prediction is only wrong when the future is sought by “supernatural” means. Simply guessing what will happen is not sinful.

Calendars are not predicting the future. They are a count of the days and weeks. No comparison

Today is Monday 8 Jan, 2018. Tomorrow is the 9th.

what about your work schedule? or scheduling a doctor’s appointment? do our parishes sin when they schedule Mass at specific times?

This list is not a planning list, it is akin to many 2018 prediction lists.

If it were a planning list, it would be someone’s personal list.

It’s not a guess, it’s packaged as a prediction, same as all the other 2018 year of…predictions.

I don’t predict for others, I don’t say I predict Maximilian will win Tatts or approve a nuke state in 2018

We are not talking schedules, our work or activity lists. We are reading a list of someone’s 2018 predictions for the year.
