Hi everybody !..a small request to all you praying Catholics out there:

My friend Francesco is going to be ordained to the priesthood here in Montreal, at Marie Reine du Monde Cathedral (Mary Queen of the World) today - June 27, 2008 in several hours. The ceremony begins at 7:30 pm eastern standard time.

If anyone reading this post could say a Hail Mary for Francesco, it would be deeply appreciated (…I wonder how many Hail Mary’s that would make).

Thanks, and God Bless you and those who are dear to you.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

For the will of the Father to forever flow through Francesco in his ministry:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. :gopray2:

Merciful Lord, as the loving heart that you conceived of and brought to fruition is consecrated to Your service, we pray that Your Heavenly favor will come to rest upon him. You know his heart, O Lord, and are always pleased to see those who forego a life of physical pleasure and reward, preferring one of storing treasure up in Your Kingdom. As Francesco receives ordination, may Your graces descend upon him, accompanied by choirs of Angels in Heaven. Graciously fill him with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, fortifying him against a world which will come to hate him. For doing this, we thank and praise Your Holy Name.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and Blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen! Alleluia!

Today would have been his first mass. They are always so special

I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and strengthen Father Francesco, during his priestly ministry

St Faustina’s prayer for priests

O my Jesus,
I beg you on behalf of the whole church;
Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit,
and give power to the words of priests
So that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance
and return to You,O Lord.

Lord,give us holy priests;
You Yourself maintain them in holiness.

O Divine and Great High Priest,
may the power of Your mercy accompany them every
and protect them from the devil’s traps and snares
Which are continually being set for the souls of priests.

May the power of Your mercy,O Lord,
Shatter and bring to naught
all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests,
for You can do all things.

AMEN:)

I’m edified by the prayer responses this thread has received. In gratitude for the prayers, I’ll try to provide you with a little window on last friday’s ordination in the Archdiocese of Montreal (please forgive the delay of several days - I’ve been rather busy):

The ordination went very well. There were two men ordained to the priesthood at the celebration last Friday night: Francesco for the english sector and a man named Stephane for the french sector. If there were anything lamentable about the evening, it would probably be the fact that those are the only two the archdiocese of Montreal will be ordaining this year.

The archbishop presided with three auxiliary bishops assisting him. There were easily more than 50 priests concelebrating; possibly as much as 70 or 100 (my seat was way in the back and the guy in front of me kept standing on the kneeler which obstructed my view somewhat…so it’s hard to give you an accurate headcount).

All priests take a vow of celibacy and of obedience to their bishop. The priests of a religious order also take a vow of poverty. Even though Francesco was ordained a diocesan/secular priest, he kind of took a vow of poverty in his own way because he had become an engineer before studying for the priesthood (might come in extremely useful in “building up” the kingdom of God…right?).

Since you’re all so good enough to pray for him, I’d like to share with you **a unique thing **that **happened **that evening just before the final blessing: Francesco came up to address the congregation holding a bottle of wine in his hand. After joking that, “When you see an Italian with a bottle of wine in his hand, you know the party isn’t very far away”, he went on to explain a tradition to us. He told us about an Italian tradition… that when a child is born, the father makes a bottle of wine and stores it away safely. The bottle of wine is then kept until the child makes a commitment in life. So the bottle of wine that Francesco held that evening directly following his ordination was the one his father had made when he was born and had then brought it forth to give him at his ordination.

Here’s the clincher: Francesco then told his dad, in front of the congregation, that he was going to do the best possible thing with the bottle of wine, after which he immediately presented the bottle of wine his father had made to the Archbishop - to be used as sacramental wine when the archbishop celebrates the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

His father probably didn’t have the faintest idea that the wine he was making when Francesco had been born would one day become the Precious Blood of Christ; awesome…isn’t it !? Part of why beautiful things like that happen is because you (we)were praying for him.

Thanks again to each and all and God Bless you.

I think he/you should pass this story onto a book writer. :o Maybe an author of a book on the Eucharist, or one on Adoration.

Thank you very much for the update. What a blessed day!

Merciful and loving Father, we pray that You will support Francesco in Your Sacred Hands as he transitions from relying on the finite education he contains in his mind to the wonderful experience of allowing the infinite Holy Spirit to illumine his heart. We have all confidence that his priesthood will be most blessed, his loving family making it possible for Your Divine Will to be accomplished. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Wow, that story brought tears to my eyes, beautiful!
God bless him! 🙂
