It was your post, apparently. I do not see your issue with the headline. The Petrine ministry is the primary issue between the Orthodox and Catholic camps.

With all due respect (and I mean that), our Pope does not come close to saying ““I’m open to discussing the Petrine Primacy”. That’s my beef. That’s the problem I have with it. That’s it. 🙂

If you wish to make a respectful statement, make your statement respectful, no need for a preface. I assume no ill will unless prompted.

The headline may not be perfect, but it is not wrong; particularly if you looked at my example of John Paul II “considering” women’s ordination.

Have you read the article yet, or just done a word search? The second from the last paragraph deals with it clearly.
 
A sub editor in a newspaper puts up a grab and we are worrying that the Pope will redefine the infallible teaching of the Church? Sorry, got to go do the washing up. Wake me when he actually says something on the issue. Nice meeting though.

Did an extensive search of the web and couldn’t find the quote anywhere. Another questionable translation?
 
There is no quote! it is a headline and an editorial observation!!
 
“Here I reiterate the hope already expressed by my predecessors for a continued dialogue with all our brothers and sisters in Christ, aimed at finding a means of exercising the specific ministry of the Bishop of Rome which, in fidelity to his mission, can be open to a new situation and can be, in the present context, a service of love and of communion acknowledged by all”, announced Pope Bergoglio.

When the topic is communion with the Orthodox, this language is all about a discussion of petrine primacy. Whether you want to admit it or not, that is the subject. The contention between the east and west is over the primacy of the bishop of Rome.
 
Expressing that one is interested in putting aside differences can mean any number of things. It does not have to mean “I might be wrong.” I can easily mean “let’s stop arguing about this and worry about the things that we can make headway on together.”
