It can be very beautiful. I almost got to attend Corpus Christi, in Charleston SC, a couple of years ago, but the timing wasn’t right.

One further correction. In terms of parishes/missions, the Ordinariate appears to be more akin to one of the primary Continuing Anglican jurisdictions, not 2-3. As to membership, no idea.

Which might be a shockingly small number if compared with e.g. the number of Ukrainian Greek Catholics in North America.

But, on the other hand, if compared with the number of Western Rite Orthodox here (which I think is a much fairer comparison to make) then the number seems reasonable.

In a realistic sense, yes. Back when Anglicanorum Coetibus was first promulgated, there were some predictions of far more, waiting at the door, which I thought unrealistic, at the time.

But, again, I can find no official current numbers.

Many ordinariates in Canada? There are three Anglicanorum coetibus ordinariates in the world…the United Kingdom, North America, and Australia with Asia annexed to it.

Are you offering this as a first hand assessment? I would not agree with this characterisation at all.

It has been wonderful to see the growth of the Centro Anglicano and the growth in the role it plays.

In England about a thousand lay members, according to Wikipedia (if you believe them) and according to this (rather bitter and ungenerous, I’m afraid) article in Catholic Herald:

Wikipedia (caveat emptor) says 6000 members in the N American ordinariate.

I was hoping for more. That is why I asked if the ordinariates were growing.

By the way, GKC, I always enjoy your posts. I haven’t spent a lot of time in non-Catholic religions forum lately. I always enjoyed your vast knowledge of our friend Hank. (;)) I just recently saw a new show on PBS about his wives. It was pretty good.

That was also a good article. I commend Pope Francis for visiting this Anglican church in Rome as they celebrate 200 years.

Yes, downbeat as the Catholic Herald article is, it still says the Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter is flourishing.

No, Father, as a personal assessment, based on my understanding, faulty, or skewed, as it may be, not on the Centre, but on the history following Pope Paul VI And ++Ramsey. The possibilities that the relationship between His Holiness and Cantuar suggested, to pick up where Viscount Halifax and the Abbe Portal had attempted to begin, did not, it seems to me, survive the almost simultaneous move of Anglicanism, generally, toward positions that mitigated against any closer ties or relationship between the RCC and global Anglicanism.

I would greatly appreciate your understanding here, That is an honest statement. I really like learning things.
