I have a solution to this problem of having unity with the Anglicans in 3 easy steps.
Step 1) Become Catholic
Step 2) If they are an anglican clergy (they are just laymen since they have no valid holy orders) go to a Catholic seminary and become actual priest
Step 3) Join the Anglican Ordinariate (approved by Pope Benedict XVI)

No, Father, as a personal assessment, based on my understanding, faulty, or skewed, as it may be, not on the Centre, but on the history following Pope Paul VI And ++Ramsey. The possibilities that the relationship between His Holiness and Cantuar suggested, to pick up where Viscount Halifax and the Abbe Portal had attempted to begin, did not, it seems to me, survive the almost simultaneous move of Anglicanism, generally, toward positions that mitigated against any closer ties or relationship between the RCC and global Anglicanism.

I would greatly appreciate your understanding here, That is an honest statement. I really like learning things.
Do you mean TEC’s changes in the late 70s?

Sounds like a plan, for some.

In fact, that is not how it works…at all.

Doesn’t sound like a plan for you.
But seriously, I take it your “for some” is referring to those who are Anglican (obviously :)) and who are seeking to become Catholic – I.e. as distinct from the notion of Catholics trying to woo you.

Just as hopefully there isn’t a plan on the other side to try to woo me into Anglicanism.

P.S. Of course, I guess we could always try to get back to the original topic. 🙂

Nope, there isn’t. Given that you are in a Church which validly confects the sacraments, and preaches the Gospel, why would there be.

I doubt that has been a singular parishioner I’ve met in my 19 years in my parish who had come from the RCC. Maybe one, on second thought.

Anglicans who worry about AC being a case of nefarious sheep stealing know little of the lengthy history involved, and all that sort of stuff.

Yeah. But to be honest I don’t entirely blame them for misunderstanding it, because I’ve see numerous internet posts from Catholics that make it sound that way.

Not something I worry about.
