Franciscan University in stuebenville, Ohio to drop student health care due to economic and moral reasons

I applaud them for doing this and they say that a university in Florida is thinking about doing the same. What do you think?
 
It’s sad to see the university do this, but what has to be done has to be done.
 
I agree that it is sad. The definition of “health care” has grown to mean so many things since I was in college in the 70s–that is 1970’s. I am still hoping that the Obama administration will change their direction on the issue of the conscience clause. I am very proud to be Catholic these days and see the Bishops united.
 
While FUS had no choice, since not dropping the coverage would have violated deeply held principles, the irony is that the Obama Administration is likely getting what it wants; more and more people are gradually losing private insurance, which will force many into government dependency. Thus, it is a minor PR hit for Team Obama, but advances the long term goal of further socializing medicine. 😦
