Someone in the Jesuits thread told me to make a thread about Freemasonry. Why are Freemasons considered anti-Catholic?

They and the Shriners a pledge to Allah and Mohammed so in reality are a seperate religion.

Here’s my take on Freemasonry:
The Church’s historic criticisms of it were valid. Some no longer are, but enough still are that Christians, not just Catholics, should steer clear.

That said, the Freemasons are not maliciously evil. They do a lot of good in their communities and are generally good men trying to be better men. They’re misguided, but we should look at the modern Freemasons not as conspirators against Christianity but as well-meaning but misguided men, most of whom are professing Christians.

In USA they’re regarded similarly to any other service organization, except Catholics are still forbidden from joining.

All the Shriners I’ve ever met have been nice guys mostly concerned with charity benefits and that sort of thing.

This sounds like conspiracy theory nonsense. Sort of like something jack chick would say about Catholics.

“By the existence of [Allah]( and the creed of Mohammed ; by the legendary sanctity of our Tabernacle at Mecca , we greet you.”

The inductees then swear on the Bible and the Koran , in the name of Mohammed , and invoke Masonry’s usual gruesome penalties upon themselves:

“I do hereby, upon this Bible, and on the mysterious legend of the Koran , and its dedication to the Mohammedan faith , promise and swear and vow … that I will never reveal any secret part or portion whatsoever of the ceremonies … and now upon this sacred book, by the sincerity of a Moslem’s oath I here register this irrevocable vow … in willful violation whereof may I incur the fearful penalty of having my eyeballs pierced to the center with a three-edged blade , my feet flayed and I be forced to walk the hot sands upon the sterile shores of the Red Sea until the flaming sun shall strike me with livid plague , and may Allah, the god of Arab, Moslem and Mohammedan, the god of our fathers , support me to the entire fulfillment of the same. Amen. Amen. Amen.”

Ok, I believe that someone posted that on the internet somewhere.

I just don’t believe that Masons actually recite that. What’s your evidence that that is actually a thing and not just a weird urban legend?

Please tell us you’re joking, and don’t actually believe that nonsense.

Even if the oath isn’t true, Freemasonry is still relativistic. Both muslims and “christian” freemasons have to pray to the mysterious “Great Architect of the Universe”.

We don’t need to join Freemasons in USA anyway, we have the Knights of Columbus which were pretty much founded as an alternative to the Freemasons for Catholic men to join.
In those days the Masons often wouldn’t let Catholic men join their lodge anyway.
Plenty of pancakes and children’s charities over on the K of C side of the house.

DENIAL IS PROOF

And here I am, considering Catholicism. I hope the other secret Muslims don’t find out.

I hope not too. If that oath you definitely took is accurate, you’re going to straight up have a bad time when they find out.
