Do not buy into this trash. Lucifer does not bring us light. He is the evil one. Read John 8:12. Jesus Christ, not Lucifer, is the light of the world.
You fool, you are the poster boy for the ignorance of the Church itself. I’m not trying to tell you to worship Lucifer, or even that he is the light of the world. Simply that the first opposition were labeled Satanists to smear their name to the public. This is factual. This has no correlation to your biblical satan.

Lucifer in Latin means - The Bringer of Light, thus the enlightened ones…Please read the post, and do not criticize that which you cannot understand.

Atsheeran: I dont know if you believe Dan Brown is not credible because of your disapproval of The Da Vinci Code, but that is irrelevant. Experts far more educated than him have confirmed his wordsin *Angels and Demons…*Historical facts listed are credible… Online history sites should be able to confirm the history.

As for the word Lucifer, if you do not believe me, go buy a Latin to English Dictionary or vice versa. Or just google it…

Im in no fear of being kicked out of the Church. It was no secret that i was a Free Mason when i became catholic. I have also known Catholics who became masons with the Church haveing full knowledge. As i said before. Everybody on here gets mad because of all the false statements that are said against the Church. But yet when it comes to masons you all do it to us. I love the Masonic Lodge and they have done many great things over the years. At one time the Church was doing such great things with its power but do you hold it against them. So why do that to the masons.

I will not accept your Masonic alternate history.

I also know that the Church fathers identified the name Lucifer with Satan. That’s enough for me.

It is possible to be freemason and be catholic, whoever denies this is clearly mis informed and naive.
You are calling a whole bunch of Popes misinformed and naive.

And, in reference to what you said earlier, the Church is not ignorant as you say. It is the pillar of TRUTH. (1 Tim 3:15)

You can’t be a Mason and be a Roman Catholic… No one here is saying that Masons themselves are bad people. There are a lot of good Masons, but the organization itself is not founded on Christian principles and is incompatible with Catholicism… No Roman Catholic can be a Free Mason. Why be a Free Mason when we have the Knights of Columbus which was setup for especially for Catholics looking to join a fraternal organization? See the Catholic Encyclopedia if you don’t believe me… newadvent.org/cathen/09771a.htm

Okey,
You quote a fictional novel as a source? That won’t cut it on this board. Brown’s historical accuracy is virtually non-existent.

Wow, go learn your history, i described facts. There was no quotes, i just gathered information from various sites, and told you all it was in his book too…Google it for yourselves…

You CAN be catholic just because the pope says you arent, humans are fallible.

The ideas in Brown’s novel are taken from “Holy Blood, Holy Grail”, along with other sources. HBHG considers itself scholarship, and the authors have done the work.

After reading HBHG, you may or may not wish to consider it valid. But you can’t say that Brown’s accuracy is non-existant. The research is out there.

Nor will I accept your Catholic revisionism.

Sorry.

The official response was:

***“it would be objectively a grave sin for a Catholic to join a Masonic lodge”

and

“prohibition from receiving Holy Communion is meant to highlight the gravity of the situation.”***
****I don’t really know if that means excom. Looks like it doesn’t.

How can you say that I can not be a mason and a catholic. I am!!??!?!? Where do you get off saying that a Catholic and not be?? Please explain this to me. Just because its not part of the Church? You look around in any Catholic church and im sure you will see plenty of masonic rings. If a priest does not see a problem with me being a Mason and a Catholic then why would i even bother with what you think. It is obvious you have not clue just what the masons are all about. You go off what this person says and that person writes. If you truely want to know what we are all about ask a Mason. that will be your only true source of Truth. Just like with me and the Catholic Church. I went strait to the source and found out alot of what i was hearing and being told was wrong. But again don’t say you can not be both. For that statement is totally wrong. I proudly wear my cross and my ring

Hello, there has been extensive discussion on this over the past year on this forum, do a search.
No use going over old ground, my last (name removed by moderator)ut into this thread regardless of wether you reply or not, is if you are in the masons, and a Catholic, then you are going against the Church.

Decide where your loyalties lie, with the Church or the masons.

Jesus said," those that aren’t with Him are against Him" we can’t serve two masters, and that’s the long, short, and tall of it.

Choose please, darkness or light, fire or water.

I think you guys are crazy:)
The Church knows best,
Live by it, or suffer the consequences.

And like i said. My priest was fully aware that i was in the Masonic lodge when i decided to be Catholic. Are you calling him wrong? Are you saying he has no idea what the rules say when it comes to this?? You show me in the Catechism where it says this. Please… I don’t serve 2 masters. My 1 master is Jesus Christ. The masons are about Charity. I have no Master there. As i have said before and this will be my final reply. You all have the Masons wrong. You wanna go by the he said she said rule. You have no idea what we stand for, where we come from…or what we are all about. And if you can find it where it says Masons are not allowed in the church ill give you my priest phone number. I trust his word on this subject more than anybody on here. I dont’ mean this rude but many replies on here have been shallow and obviously no knowledge of the subject. As i said. Show me. And if i am wrong. You may call my perish, and i will back out of the Church,

Here is the most recent official statement from the Catholic Church regarding Freemasonry. It was issued in 1983 by the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI).
Issued by the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on November 26, 1983.
It has been asked whether there has been any change in the Church’s decision in regard to Masonic associations since the new Code of Canon Law does not mention them expressly, unlike the previous Code.
This Sacred Congregation is in a position to reply that this circumstance is due to an editorial criterion which was followed also in the case of other associations likewise unmentioned inasmuch as they are contained in wider categories.
Therefore the Church’s negative judgment in regard to Masonic associations remains unchanged since their principles have always been considered irreconcilable with the doctrine of the Church and therefore membership in them remains forbidden. The faithful who enroll in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion.
It is not within the competence of local ecclesiastical authorities to give a judgment on the nature of Masonic associations which would imply a derogation from what has been decided above, and this in line with the Declaration of this Sacred Congregation issued on 17 February 1981 (cf. AAS 73 [1981] pp. 240-241).
In an audience granted to the undersigned Cardinal Prefect, the Supreme Pontiff John Paul II approved and ordered the publication of this Declaration which had been decided in an ordinary meeting of this Sacred Congregation.
Rome, from the Office of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, 26 November 1983.
JOSEPH Card. RATZINGER
Prefect
There has been no further additional word on this. Your priest is wrong. Ask him to demonstrate for you that it is permitted for a Catholic to be a Mason. He won’t be able to.

Here are some older condemnations of Freemasonry by Catholic Popes:

Pope Clement XII In Eminenti (1738)

Pope Leo XIII
Humanum Genus (1884)

Custodi Di Quella Fede (1892)

It has nothing to do at all with what I think. Contrary to your belief, I have some protestant relatives who are members of the York Rite Free Masonic lodge. Did I ever say they were a “bad” organization? Please show me where what I said is biased or negative in regards to Masons. I have nothing against Masons. The Popes do, and my loyalty is to the Popes and to Jesus Christ so I go with what they say. I don’t think your priest trumps the Pope’s decisions on whether or not Catholics can be members of the Masonic lodges. Why do you think KofC was started? It was started because Catholics aren’t supposed to be members of the Masonic Lodges.
Fr. McGivney founded the Knights at a time when Catholics were regularly excluded from the unions and men’s organizations that provided social support services. The organization was also intended to provide an alternative for Catholics to membership in a Masonic lodge—Freemasonry was discouraged by church hierarchy, and banned by Pope Leo XIII in 1884. The naming of the order after Columbus was partially intended as a mild ridicule of Anglo-Saxon Protestant leaders of the day, who upheld the explorer (an Italian working for Catholic Spain) as an American hero, yet simultaneously sought to marginalize recent Catholic immigrants.
Ask your Archbishop if you can be a Catholic and be a FreeMason.

Edit:
P.S. I don’t want you to back out of the church. I’d rather see you join a Catholic organization such as the Knights of Columbus. 🙂 Good luck man.

In regards to your last sentence…Do yourself a favor, give up the Masons, not the Church.

Hey, interesting quote. Does anyone know of the background on Fraternities with any secret societies??? Plus alot of fraternities have there own problem with immorality. The group pressure can be risky. Thanks and God Bless.
Groups like National Honor Society which I guess is mostly in High Schools I don’t think is Masonic since some Catholic schools have chapters. They aren’t really secretive I guess given the fact that the members names are published, meetings are announced at a public place, etc.

Regarding the college fraternities, most of them probably have Masonic origins. Or at the very least, are breading grounds for them. The immorality is true. One fraternity at my school was forced to shut down after drug, alcohol, and a suicide of a member.
