By John Jalsevac PARIS, France, February 8, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - France’s supreme court has ruled that parents of miscarried or stillborn children can register a name for the child, no matter what stage of development the child was at at the time of miscarriage or birth, reports the…

This seems eminently sensible and consistent with Church teaching. Other nations should follow in France’s footsteps.

When a woman miscarries no matter what it is easier on her to have a name for the child to refer to. Making it legal is a wonderful thing for the healing and remembering of this child.👍

This is an ASTOUNDING advance for the struggle for fetal rights in the Western World.

I am really surprised that pro-lifers around the world have not grasped the significance of this court ruling.

To my knowledge, it is the first time, outside of the US, that a Western country where abortion is legal has ruled in favour of fetal rights.

And in a very secular country to boot.

We should be jumping up and down at this ruling. It’s hugely significant.

Not only does it cover babies after 20 weeks-- but ALL unborn babies.

The unborn baby is not a person, but at least he has status (if only when dead). He has an identity–a NAME! For goodness sakes, a NAME FOR A FETUS.

Do you not see the cultural implications?

Once the fetus has an identity, it’s game over for the pro-aborts.

Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian that I see this as a huge advance, and Americans are more used to seeing court rulings in their favour.

But this is very, very big. The feminists in France are starting to get scared about the emergence of the pro-life philosophy in Europe.

“A fetus is only viable after 26 weeks,” said Chantal Birman, deputy president of a pro-abortion group called ANCIC.
 That isn’t right. Babies can survive from at least 22 weeks.

But yes, this is a huge win for unborn rights. I pray that such strides continue to be made.
