Here is a excerpt so people can see what the article is really about
Uranium? Were some terrorist organisation to get their hands on this technology, could they use it to extract uranium from the water for the sake of terror?

Well I’m glad they couldn’t turn H2O into Au. Anyone who knows the Midas myth, knows that it doesn’t turn out well. 😛
Not to mention the story of “Ice 9,” in Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Cat’s Cradle. If they found a way to turn H20 into Au, I’d be afraid somebody would drop it into the ocean, and poof! no more oceans.

Now that would make the Midas Story real boring.
:hmmm: I guess too much of anything is never good.

Darn it! Just when I thought we rediscovered actual alchemy!!

Ah well, on the bright side, we’re seeing more proof of Clarke’s Third Law working outside fiction.

Big whoop, the Germans did this hundreds of years ago. Rumplestitskin, anyone?

Hardly misleading since to the human eye that is exaclty what is happening.

Now, at the molecular level it is a different story.
For the headline to be true, they’d either need to actually achieve alchemy or nuclear fusion. Neither is the case, so the headline is inaccurate. Journalism is supposed to be accurate, not just sensational.
