O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.

(Friar David)

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.

Amen

I am back at the rehab/nursing center after a visit to the hospital for a procedure to remove some necrotic tissue that was hiding behind the healing wound.

So in essence they had to make he wound a little larger and deeper but I have to tell you I feel so much better after having that done.

My appetite has gotten much better and the doctors say the wound appears to be healing well.

I have a follow up with the surgeons on the 23rd and I resume my infusion chemo (I am also taking pills) on July 2nd.

I am looking forward to the complete healing of the wound so that I may enter ministry as I will be leaving initial formation.

I will be ordained a deacon and will take one class (required for priestly ordination) a semester and if I am able to complete them and my superiors at the time agree I may be ordained to the priesthood but that is not a given.
So nice to hear from you ! May our blessed Lord give you strength for each day - prayers dear brother in Christ.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence let us fly to you, O virgin of virgins, our mother. To you do we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your clemency hear and answer us. Amen.

Br. David,

It is great to hear that despite your circumstance, everything else is going well. I have you in my thoughts and prayers always, may God grant you His mercy always.

Oh Sweet Jesus, we know we are not worthy but please just say the word and we know your servent Friar David will be healed. We all miss him dearly around here and could so still use his wisdom and guidance. We all learn so much from him. Please let him come back to us soon.

Oh Blessed Mother Mary. You know how much we need Friar David around just like the guests needed more wine at the wedding in Cana. You know how much we are
not worthy but please intercede for us to you Son, Jesus, and tell Him how much we do still need him and his guidance so that he can continue to help us navigate these troubled times we find ourselves in. Please ask Jesus to heal him and give him his strength bak soon.

For this we pray…so be it…

Hello All!
I know it has been a long time since I sent out a letter but I wanted to wait till I knew somethings.

My wound is healing well. I still need to see the surgeon who will make any decisions about my going home.

I recently had an MRI to see if the tumor had infiltrated my spine but it has not. The last CT scan I had was just before my last surgery and my oncologist took a look at it and said that yes there has been some growth in the tumors but he expected this. With me being off of the infusion so long he thought there would be more growth but there was not. I had been off of the chemo infusion (but I still was taking the pills but those are considered a maintenance form of chemo when taken alone). What he did not expect was how little the growth was so over all he was happy and I have restarted the infusion which I hate as it causes a day of cold sweats.

We have a new nurse-practitioner here at the nursing home and she helped me get a handle on my ostomy… I feel much more confident about it.

The plans for the future is that once the wound is healed and I do not need any special care I will move to a parish in Chicago and work there. I will take one class a semester at CTU.

I hope everything is going well for you and know that you are in my prayers, please pray for me.
God Bless,

Thank you so much for the update Brother David. You have been in my daily prayers.
