My DH was recently thrown for a loop by being invited to lunch at Taco Bell on a Lenten Friday. Let’s help each other by listing on this thread some meatless options from the various restaurants, especially the ones who put in a meatless option just for Lent.

Wendy’s comes to mind right away, with their new cod fish sandwich. They’re advertising it as a good alternative to “mystery” fish at the other places.

I checked the Taco Bell online menu and found a half pound bean and rice burrito, a bean burrito, and what looks really, really good, the 7-layer burrito. They have some side dishes that could combine for a meal, too, like pinto beans with cheese and Mexican rice. You can order a Mexican pizza without meat, too. Mmmmm.

Of course, the classic McD Filet-O-Fish.

Burger King near me had a two for $3.33 fish sandwich special.

What else is out there?

The only fast food chain I frequent is Burger King. But on days of abstinence, I still steer clear. Because even if it’s fish or fries - the oil that they’re fried in may / may not have also been used for something with meat products. I know the Church is not that strict on that any longer but I am. I say - hit the diner and have a tuna salad sandwich !

Taco Bell is often in the same building with other restaurants owned by the same chain, KFC, Long John Silver (problem solved), etc. for TB a bean burrito with extra cheese and veggies is DH’s pick, if I am stuck in one w/o a LJS, I get a taco salad with bean only, extra cheese. they experimented briefly with a soy-based taco filling, but it bombed, but that is how I make tacos at home.

typical lenten breakfast around here is a taco, egg and potato, egg and bean, or bean and potato. no wonder they like hot sauce so much.

I avoid fast food chains if at all possible.😦

Still, if required to be there, as part of a group, I would stick to the salads. Nowadays, at least in my area, most of the chains do have salad options.
