I** have this question: Will we be reunited with our friends and family, our loved ones, in Heaven? I have heard conflicting answers to this question. The answer is rather important, don’t you think? Any insight you can offer will be appreciated. Thanks very much.

I was brought up in the RCC and don’t remember ever hearing anything about being reunited with loved ones, just about being with Jesus in Heaven. Of course, I could have heard more but forgotten it since I am a senior citizen!
Anyway, personally I believe that we will be reunited with those who have gone before us. I don’t think anyone really knows for sure but that is my personal belief. I do know that our deceased loved ones are still with us even though we may not be able to see them. I base this on the fact that my Mom came to me shortly after she passed away, stood in front of me and spoke to me to let me know that she was alright and to give me a personal message.

She came to you! That’s pretty extraordinary. My Dad drowned when I was seen years old. One morning it seemed to me that he came and stood at my bedside. Now it could have been a dream, a very vivid one; I was only a child after all. But it surely seemed real at the time.

At any rate I’ll bet the Church has a teaching on this question and some good theologian will let us know what that teaching is.

I think since those in Heaven are "aware: of us enough to pray for us here on earth that it only makes sense we would have that same awareness of each other in Heaven.

The teaching on the communion of saints has to do with this. We’ll be united with all the saints in heaven. In fact we are already united with them when we receive communion.

Not sure if that helps or not…

It’s very possible that your Dad wanted to comfort you. Remember, our loved ones don’t forget us just because they aren’t with us physically. You were a little boy and your Dad knew you still needed him. Keep that memory with you and know that your Dad continues to love you.

Thqanks very for those encouraging words, all of you who answered my question.
