Good heavens! Who cares what other people think? You have no power over other people’s thoughts. Best to spend your one, precious, God-given life focusing on things you actually can control – like your own thoughts and actions.

Right. You can’t stop people from starting an online campaign to make Elsa a lesbian anymore than they could stop you from starting an online campaign to give her a Prince Charming.

Very few online campaigns are actually successful, though.

I liked frozen for a few reasons, some of them being:

• Anna’s story started out like the typical “love at first sight” Disney princess story. It was nice to see the message “this is a bad idea, the guy might be a psychopath”.
• The love between two sisters wins out over romantic love and the fact that Elsa is queen without a prince sends the message that girls don’t need a boyfriend to be worthwhile
• Anna sacrifices herself for Elsa in spite of everything. True love is not found in a kiss but rather in self-sacrifice

In comparison to other Disney movies, the message this movie sends out is much healthier for little girls. Not that I think any of them are bad for children, they are just cute stories. So far anyway

I liked “The Princess Diaries 2” for the same reason–they showed Mia standing up for herself and demanding that she be crowned queen in her own right, without needing to be married in order to do it.

“Malificent” did the same thing–it was a kiss of true love that saved Sleeping Beauty, but not from the prince, but from somebody who loved Sleeping Beauty as a mother loves a daughter.

People will see what they want to see in movies. Much like they do in artwork, or in written stories, or in music. I write poetry myself. One I wrote got very different reactions from a lot of people, and it was interesting to see what they read into it (the reactions was from “it feels vampiric” to “is this a pregnancy announcement?” Both of which had me scratching my head.) Look at the “Star Trek” reboot–apparently somebody watched the originals and thought Spock/Uhura should be a romantic couple. I personally never got that from them, but maybe whoever got to officially rewrite them caught something I didn’t.

Honestly, it’s kinda silly to obsess over what the fans will see in the piece of entertainment. The artist/writer puts it out there, and the viewers like it for whatever reason, or they don’t.
