In the Douay–Rheims Bible, Galatians 5:22–23 is translated thus:
But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity, Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.
But the New American Bible on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website renders Galatians 5:22–23 somewhat differently:
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
I was wondering whether contemporary Catholics are taught that the fruit of the Spirit is twelve–fold or nine–fold?
Curiously,
Mick
