Excuse me? Some pervert on the internet?

Geez dude. So if your son found Mely through the internet you’d assume she’s a pervert then?

And did you seriously just call us heathens?
He seriously called us heathens…unbelieveable

Well I gave up on online dating, to me it is a waste of time and money. Some people like it, but I would rather do the face-to-face.

I met my now fiance on a free dating site and he was the first and only person I met there. I know those results are not typical, but sometimes you do get lucky.

Lucky you! 🙂

In my case, I had failed in it worse.

Being that I’m single and closing in on 60, I’m here to tell you that praying for a mate doesn’t work.
I respectfully disagree with the above. Praying for a mate does work but one should not rely on it alone. I just finished a book about being single and catholic and the author encourages prayer for ones spouse but she also says one needs to go out and look for one as well and not just wait around for one to fall into your lap.

I think we need to be prayerful and proactive. 🙂

As in. DO pray. But if you’re praying and locking yourself up in a box that isn’t enough. You have to get out there and do everything you can but pray at the same time.

I’ve met lots of fellows online AND offline and I have to tell you that I broke up with every one because I knew they weren’t the ones God wanted for me. I only knew this because I was praying, constantly.

It may be a bit premature but I do think I’ve finally met the ‘right guy’ and it was online. 🙂 Again, prayer played a huge part.

When you sign up for an online dating site Don’t Stop Looking Offline!!! Keep looking everywhere. Online dating is just another tool in the mate searching but you shouldn’t rely on any one method. God doesn’t baby us. We have to be proactive in our lives, not just relying on Him to carry us through it. 🙂

Well, that is something that all practicing Roman Catholics know about, and makes me suspect that the OP is getting advice from heathens in this thread. There were a few post that mentioned that secular men were okay. Catholics must get dispensation from their Bishop before marring a non-Catholic outside the Church. Catholics must receive the Sacrament of Marriage in the Roman Catholic Church, or they are excommunicated. If you think your Bishop will give you dispensation to marry a pervert that you found on the Internet, go ahead and try. I doubt it!
As i said my post regarding secularist’s was primarily based on non practicing Catholic’s to increase one’s chances

🤷 I don’t care. I may be a heathen and a pervert but I have a career (the horror) and a fiance that loves me to go home to.
BlueEyedLady,

Angelsflight was not refering to you but to Johndoe100.
I personaly don’t think you are a heathen or a pervert and feel that you are very lucky and blessed to have a career you love and a fiance that loves you. 👍

No, none of us are heathens or perverts…we are just who we are. If others dont accept us for who we are or what makes us happy, oh well. Too bad for them, right? 🙂

I know. I was also referring to him. I was telling her that I don’t care that he opened a can of worms and threw out insults and misinformation right and left. Besides…I smell a troll.

I do too actually… I wondered if it was just something to get a rise out of us…lol. 😛

So Mely, in short, we heathens say this:

Keep your options open. Look online…look all around you. Your perfect mate is out there somewhere. And you will find him. It does take time to find someone right for you. You may meet him somewhere unexpected. I met a couple of my relationships in places I would never have thought to look for someone.

One thing I did notice though…at least for me…is that when I looked too hard for that special person I never seemed to find him. It is sometimes when you are not expecting it…and when it does happen, it will hit you like a ton of bricks. And it will be worth the wait.

For the times that you are alone…do hold on to that career and anything else in your life that make you feel good about yourself. there is absolutely nothing wrong with independence. And your future husband will value it too, if he really loves you and wants you to be happy.

And last, but certainly not least…do pray to God about it. I do believe he can lead you to the one perfect for you. 🙂
