Reminds me of two occasions at our abbey. The first, at Vigils, the lector took the reading from the wrong year. I asked our oblate master “why did Fr. So-and-so use the readings for year I when we’re in year II?” The answer: “because Fr. So-and-so made a mistake”.
Another occasion, the deacon used the gospel from the wrong year. The priest giving the homily started his homily by saying: “in the Gospel we were supposed to hear today, Jesus says…”
And this is a very conservative abbey of the Solesmes Congregation where the only form of music is Gregorian chant (though exclusively in the Ordinary Form).
