Ft. Worth becomes the fourth diocese to leave the Episcopal Church (CNA)

Fort Worth, Nov 18, 2008 / 03:12 am (CNA).- Nearly eighty percent of the clergy and lay delegates to the 26th diocesan convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Ft. It’s a shame, but not unexpected.

The Fort Worth diocese, formed in 1982 as a spinoff of the Dallas diocese, is one of three that refuse to ordain women as priests, a practice the national church voted to accept in 1976.

I think Quincy, Illinois (which left the Episcopal Church earlier this month) was one of the other diocese which refused to ordain women. Would the third diocese be either Pittsburgh or Fresno (which have both already left TEC)?

The diocese was welcomed Saturday into the Province of the Southern Cone, based in Argentina, but the realignment is expected to be temporary while the diocese works to establish a conservative province of the Anglican Communion in the United States, diocese leaders said.

Wouldn’t a second province of the Anglican Communion mean schism? What would be the repercussions, worldwide?

Unless they follow this up by now moving towards Rome, then they are wasting their time. All they will end up doing is becoming yet another splinter in the ever fragmenting Protestant heresy.

Why don’t they just come home to Rome? Go ahead and swim the Tiber! It’s not like they would be the first to do so.

The original sin involved Eve and Adam falling for Satan’s temptation to “be like God.” They wanted to decide, for themselves, what was right and what was wrong, rather than trust God to tell them. This is the sin of 99% of American’s I’ve ever met. They want to reinvent the wheel for themselves, and almost always end up missing the mark.
