Oh yeah definitely. The observation of the communion table is something that should be practiced by all christians. Im not contending with the such. But to add such an observation to the requirements of salvation and remission of sin i think is nonscriptural and ultimately discredits the magnitude of what Christ FINISHED at the cross.

**New Perspective, it appears you are describing many things out of their context. I believe the confusion here is how does one recieve the free gift of God’s Salvation, and comparing to those things that an already born again Christian does (practice their Christian walk) while being Saved in Jesus. I think this is what I find confusing.

I can tell you that everything that the Catholic Church practices and teaches is found in the Sacred Scriptures and Sacred Tradition. Although you have been taught differently about my Catholic faith other than the way I was taught. Your view of the Catholic faith is not on a solid footing. And your making statements from your own point of view, or what you may have been misinformed of, not what the Catholic Church say’s or teaches.

That’s what is great about this forum, so that we can correct the many misconceptions of both of our faiths. Because I have Questions for you about fundamentalism.
  1. Name the founder of your church?
    a. When did your church start?
  2. What does one need to do in order to be saved?
  3. Once saved, and the same one falls into sin, how does he recieve his salvation again?
  4. When did your doctrine saved by faith begin?
5.Where did you get the bible from?
6.Who has God placed in authority over you on earth to teach all things in matters of faith and morals?.
  5. Do you need a bible to be saved?
  6. Do you need a church to be saved?
  7. Do you need a Pastor to be saved?
10.How many different Fundamental Churches do you know?
11.Are there any Martyrs or Saints in heaven that practiced this belief of yours while on earth?
  8. Is your teacher or Pastor anointed by an apostle of Jesus or one of their successors.
  9. And once saved, what does the save person do now?
For thought: The sacraments: Is a visible sign Instituted by Jesus Christ himself to GIVE GRACE to all who recieve them. Its an anointing of the Holy Spirit, This is not a work to earn, it is given freely by Jesus Christ himself. The first Sacrament is Baptism. Jesus said, John 3:5 "Amen, amen, I say to you, NO ONE can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and spirit.
1 Peter 3:21… This prefigured BAPTISM WHICH SAVES YOU NOW. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but as appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ…

Please be aware of the difference between entering into the kingdom of God. And how those Christians already living in the kingdom of God commanded by our King and lord Jesus Christ himself, are to minister and live in this world today. For example the Catholic Church does not give the body and blood of Jesus Christ to an unbeliever or to one who doesnt believe the way Jesus and his apostles taught us and handed down the Eucharist to us. They have to be taught the faith, by hearing the word of God.

The Catholic Church has never taught you can earn your salvation. New Prefigure you have to please stop stating that, or ask for clarification, if you cant take this practicing Catholic word for it.**

peace be with you.

Gabriel,

I think New perspective has read and heard a lot about Roman Catholicism off the likes of Jack Chick et al.

As an Anglican who only believes in one Church I can answer your questions and you will agree, due to the fact that itr is the same one.
  1. Name the founder of your church?
    a. When did your church start?
  1. Jesus Christ.
    a. It is eternal.
A Fundamentalist would probably beleive The Church died soon after the first century and got reserected again at the time of Luther.
  1. What does one need to do in order to be saved?
Follow Jesus, believe, be baptised etc etc.

A fundamentalist woould say “Say the sinners prayer and join his church”
  1. Once saved, and the same one falls into sin, how does he recieve his salvation again?
Repent, believe etc etc.

A fundamenatlists answer would depend on if they are OSAS or not. But there are others who think they need to be born again again.
  1. When did your doctrine saved by faith begin?
Was it Zechariah or Zepheniah who said it? 😉
5.Where did you get the bible from?
It was written and put together by The Church under the inspiration of The Holy Spirit…

A fundamentalist would disagree and claim we are taking credit for something we did not do.
6.Who has God placed in authority over you on earth to teach all things in matters of faith and morals?.
Those he has anointed to do so.

A fundamentlalist would not have a problem here. Though in Fundamentlaism anyone can start a Church and it sometimes looks like everyone has. Even you or I could start our own Church and Pastor it tommorrow. I think that’s crazy!
  1. Do you need a bible to be saved?
  2. Do you need a church to be saved?
  3. Do you need a Pastor to be saved?
All three of these things point show us how to be saved though it is Jesus that does the saving. Hence he is called our saviour.
10.How many different Fundamental Churches do you know?
Like the stars… 😦

A Fundamentalist would say his Church is the only one.
11.Are there any Martyrs or Saints in heaven that practiced this belief of yours while on earth?
Stephen, Polycarp, Alban, Kathrine, all Christians fed to the lions, Thomas Moore, all Christians killed by Stalin, the list is endless.

A Fundamentalist would claim all the Protestant Martyrs as theirs while preaching what the martyrs would call heresy.
  1. Is your teacher or Pastor anointed by an apostle of Jesus or one of their successors.
Yes.

A fundamentalist would also say this.
  1. And once saved, what does the save person do now?
Follow Christ.

I’m not sure if John 3:5 is about baptism.

Thanks East Anglican, your answers follow along my same thoughts. I was hoping to get the fundamentalist to see how they are looked at from a Catholic perspective, of no authority, no succession, their fundamental christian doctrine may have similarities but when defined are a world of differences of their founders Opinion or translation. I think for one to say they have the Christian faith and the teachings of Jesus have to make the claim that their church was started by Jesus Christ and then back it up. Fundamentalism does not do that, you just have to have faith and believe in the work Jesus did for you. Well The Father of Lies believe in Jesus also he has faith in Jesus or else the Father of lies would not scatter Just at the name of Jesus.

P.S

The consecrated Host is TRANSUBSTANTIATED into the body, blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. Its interesting how a word can cause a difference. I pray as laity we can get pass this and Join together as one. If the east and the west represents the two lungs of the body of Jesus, could you imagine if fundamentalist, Protestantism could bring their faith and zeal back to the body of Christ. I believe it would be God breathed and the heart of the body would throb with tremendous joy that the earth and heaven would shake…

food for thought, Peace and Love

I dont really understand how the premise of fundamentalism is something opposed by the cc. Im not talking about the movement but being a fundamental Christian in essence. God and His Word are unchanging, unwavering, and absolutely authoritative. Fundamental Christianity entails holding to the fundamentals of what God has said and the standards He set. Changing with the times is unacceptable. As we know, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Fundamentalism is the only ism worth any thing in any faith especially the one true faith, that which is in Jesus Christ. Simple really. So why try to combat fundamentalists? I dont follow the logic whatsoever. Someone please enlighten me.
Catholics are fundamentalists in a very real sense.

We received from Christ Himself, at the hand of the Apostles most of what Fundamentalists call the “fundamentals” – God created the world, He created two people whom we call “Adam” and “Eve” from whom we all descend. We believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, that He is one Divine Person with two natures. We believe in the literal Resurrection of Jesus from the dead, His ascenscion into heaven, and that He will come again in glory to judge the world. We believe that the Scriptures are the inspired and inerrant word of God.

So why do you think we are at odds with fundamentalism? We are at odds with those tenets of modern fundamentalism that reject or deny the fundamental beliefs of the fundamental Church that Christ Himself promised to build upon the rock of Peter.

If you want REAL fundamentalism, become Catholic!

The Bible does say in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and profitable for doctrine. I think if there was other scripture inspired by God that it would have been made mention of dont ya think?
But the Bible also does not say which books are Scripture, Traditions does. And the Bible does not say that the Bible is the only source of faith.
And the NT was not fully written by Timotys time.

Well a ‘fundamentalist’ told me i was going to burn for not believing in the Rapture on Friday. To some, speaking against a doctrine that was virtually unheard of before 1870 is a serious blasphemy.

We both believe that when we partake of the sacrament we litrally epartake of Christ’s body and blood. The doctrine that it is merely symbolic is the nasty one. 😦 It is also one of many doctrines that the early reformers did not adhere too.)
