Hi all, so what bible do we use if its not the king james? anyway the Holy Church forbids us to read or own a bible. so lets do what the Church tells usa to do and leave the bible alone .

That must be why I am running up hundreds of dollars in Church money buying Bibles for the RCIA Inquirers, and making them do so many Bible worksheets where they have to read whole books of it at a time and report on what they read.
Not my church. (Roman Catholic.)

This is why I like the Catholic RSV. The RSV retained the dignity of the KJV, while correcting errors and using more reliable manuscripts.

I have a couple of KJV’s myself (one is the Cambridge Bible with Apocrypha. The other is the 1611 edition). My favourite Bible, though, is the RSV-CE. I also own an ecumenical RSV because it contains the books recognized by the Orthodox but not the Catholic Church.

1611 edition is nice!
Nevertheless, its still based off manuscripts that are far from early in date.
