Erasmus was a Catholic. For those who dont know who Erasmus was, Desiderius Erasmus was a humanist intellectual.![]()
You can be a Catholic and not be Catholic.Erasmus was a Catholic.![]()
I do not know but I do know that it is read by both Fundamentalists and Freemasons. I wonder if there is a connectionCan someone please explain to me the reason that many Fundamentalist Christians will ONLY read the King James Version of the Bible?
You would know.RH is coming home posted:

You’re right, Cat, not much truth in that and makes a mockery of his user name.Posts #59 and 60 are cut-and-pastes from this website:

truthnlight, this is a THIRD author that you are stealing from and making it look like it’s your original writing by posting it on these boards.
Please, please stop this. At least cite the author. Even if these people are your friends and have given you permission to use their work online, it is still not right for you to pass their work off as your own.
Thanks.
You can also read it in eBook form, free here. This book will answer just about most questions regarding the
role the Church played in the protection and preservation of
the Word. It costs about $8 at Barnes and Noble, but I had
to go online to get it because none of the shops had one on hand. So I had to pay the s & h. total $13 for this invaluable
resource.
WHERE WE GOT THE BIBLE
by Rt. Rev. Henry G. Graham

That must be why I am running up hundreds of dollars in Church money buying Bibles for the RCIA Inquirers, and making them do so many Bible worksheets where they have to read whole books of it at a time and report on what they read.Hi all, so what bible do we use if its not the king james? anyway the Holy Church forbids us to read or own a bible.
Not my church. (Roman Catholic.)so lets do what the Church tells usa to do and leave the bible alone .
This is why I like the Catholic RSV. The RSV retained the dignity of the KJV, while correcting errors and using more reliable manuscripts. The language of the KJV is more majestic than the later versions and most people know key verses by heart. I am glad my church uses the KJV, it keeps things simple and beautifully spoken.

That may be fine for liturgical purposes, but for study it is not.The language of the KJV is more majestic than the later versions and most people know key verses by heart. I am glad my church uses the KJV, it keeps things simple and beautifully spoken.

I have a couple of KJV’s myself (one is the Cambridge Bible with Apocrypha. The other is the 1611 edition). My favourite Bible, though, is the RSV-CE. I also own an ecumenical RSV because it contains the books recognized by the Orthodox but not the Catholic Church. That may be fine for liturgical purposes, but for study it is not.
