It’s remarks like this that really disgust me. Two of my uncles were in the Polish Home Army (AK) and my paternal grandmother was killed (machine gunned, actually) while she was a partisan. Nice to hear “Polack” jokes in light of what I know about them and what the others in the AK did, so many of whom were later killed by Stalin who didn’t want any trained resistance when his toadies took over. 😦

My point is that the Poles collapsed as quickly as the French did, but the French are always the butts of those jokes. As if the Brits or the Americans never ran or were never routed. 😦
Rich,
I thought it was a funny joke, and he meant no harm. He ended his post with
All joking aside, the Poles also have a history of helping Americans in need:

Does anyone else find it ironic that Obama picked a general that moveon.org once charged of “cooking the books for the Whitehouse” and “a military man constantly at war with the facts”, and called “Betray-Us”?
No. Obama is no friend of the left.

Today, Rich, Today. I wan’t alive back then. I was writing of personal experiences-you should have noticed that, but I guess you didn’t.
I guess you didn’t notice that you said “the French.” That’s a generalization with no reference to any particular time frame.
I’ve lived in Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Colorado, N. Carolina and Texas, Rich. Must be the Charismatic Renewal-Life in the Spirit wherever I go, because the Churches are full of young people.
You can cherry-pick parishes all you want. If it were so great in the American church, you wouldn’t see churches being closed, parochial schools being closed, parishes being served by Extraordinary Ministers alone.
To become as rude and condemnatory as you were in that post?. No thank you.

Someone said that if the general doesn’t trust the Commander in Chief he should step down. This brings up a problem: no competent officer in the US military trusts this man.
That is your opinion, and that is nice. There were a lot of soldiers feeling a sigh of relief that the wars created by the previous administration would not be carried into another war front - Iran. I quess you had to be there initially ducking the bullets in Iraq, looking for weapons that started the war and did not exist. I am sure the troops did not feel like tools in the shed when they fought their way into Iraq, losing good men and women along the way - knocked down the front door and found nothing!

Yeah, lady. I’m from Brooklyn myself and I know all about rude New Yorkers, and can dish out with the best of them. And if you don’t like it, you can…😃
Well, in Boston, they’re even ruder. They can dish it out, but they can’t take it back 😃

Exactly so. I found more liberals in the Air Force when I served '63 - '75, but most were, alas, right-wing reactionaries.
“Reactionaries,” eh? I’ve yet to meet a right-wing “reactionary” in my experience with military folk. I think it more likely “reactionary” is a label you’ve placed on them with no objective basis.
When one comes along, I’m certain that it will be discernable! And, it still wouldn’t matter to the right-wingers in the Services. 🙂
I bet it would. Many on active duty are devout Christians. When a mandate from Heaven comes down, I’m quite certain they would put their faith in God above their own political feelings.

Rich,
I thought it was a funny joke, and he meant no harm.
Nobody ever means any harm talking about how stupid Polacks are. The joke says it all. Where, however, are the jokes about the Germans or the Russians or the Spanish?

Perhaps you missed my “All joking aside, the Poles also have a history of helping Americans in need” comment, and link to Pulaski?

My best friend’s granfather was also a member of the AK, and he was the one who told me the joke.

I’m sorry if you took offense.

Well, there are the Colonel Klink jokes and the Sgt Schultz “I know notHING.” for starters…

No. Obama is no friend of the left.

Doh! We’ve been over this before.

There’s not a single left-wing agenda item that when passed he would sign with a grin from ear-to-ear. Just because he isn’t at the top of every building bellowing praises for all left-wing causes, you don’t think him a friend. Sorry, but he has frequently, and consistently, expressed support for left-wing causes. That makes him a friend of the left.

Take it or leave it. Doesn’t matter to me.
I’ll leave it. Huffington Post is not credible (here at CAF).

The Huffington Post is a private, Left-Wing Opinion Blog.
, is a liberal/progressive American news website and aggregated blog.

<-Granted, the link I gave is Wikipedia, which is biased and cannot be trusted either. In this case, I believe at least the basic information on the make-up of the Huffington Post is basically accurate.

You take it-I’ll leave it. Not a credible source. An opinion blog.

Not to mention, I pointed out glaring inconsistencies regarding the resignation of Admiral Fallon for being critical of the Bush administration.

forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=6774020&postcount=97

Of course, when Fallon resigned, under Bush, it was an “example that independence and the frank, open airing of experts’ views are not welcomed in this Administration.”

Now, the same is called a “Runaway General”.

You’re a conservative. A right wing reactionary might seem like a rather more extreme conservative to you. From my point of view, however…
I bet it would. Many on active duty are devout Christians. When a mandate from Heaven comes down, I’m quite certain they would put their faith in God above their own political feelings.
Sure, you can feel that way. I didn’t have the same impression, but then, we served in two different eras.

I love a good Pollock Joke! My family, when getting together with the other Pollocks in Cleveland always told Pollock Jokes. (Laugh and the world laughs with you!) One uncle of mine would get upset. He was ashamed of being Polish.

I loved it all my life! Still do-my Polish Cousins and we keep e-mailing what we’ve done in real life to each other! I was popular growing up-being the butt of jokes! (I made class clown in h.s., I still like people to laugh and be happy around me!)

Shoot, if there’s a long way around-a Pollock will find it. I did, anyway. Still do. Call my husband a Pollock when he does something the long way (endearingly)—daughters too! They know! Great time, all the laughing! Laughing releases endorphines, and makes one happy. And, healthy.

Laugh.

God Bless.

So moveon didn’t endorse Obama? Who elected him then, moderate Republicans?
By the numbers, a block of Republican registered voters had to vote for Barack Obama or he would not be president. Hard to swallow, but true. McCain even stated in public that if he became President with Saint Palin, he would continue the path of a third war front into Iran and people here felt burned on sending over 4000 men and women to their deaths -finding no WMD’s and the prospect of losing more sons and daughters was at an end, without a clear plan.

Not true. But the Poles did fight bravely. Did you know the Polish army had the last mounted calvary? They charged the Nazi Panzer divisions, throwing dynamite at them.

The Nazis would take the dynamite, light it, and throw it back…

All joking aside, the Poles also have a history of helping Americans in need:

Hillarious! Thank you!

This is sooooo funny! I’m going to send it off to my family!

God Bless!
