FURIOUS!! Priest wouldn't let me take communion while kneeling

Please, you must be joking me. Please tell me you’re joking me! Our Pope has spoken about the goodness of kneeling to receive communion, and it’s exactly the same??? I don’t understand where you’re comming from. If it was an innovation or something absolutely prohibited, I wouldn’t have brought up the conscience arguement. It isn’t prohibited, and there is good reason why someone (especially someone elderly) would have tinges of conscience if he did stood. Plese, please, please tell me you’re joking!

Whoa, calm down, okay? This thread is getting too heated, on all sides. Take a deep breath and count to 10. Then, back slowly away from your computer. Now, go do something positive, like clean out your fridge, or put away you laundry. Also, I’ll bet your computer table could use a little tidying.

By the way, I’m actually quite calm now. I was really shocked when I read that, though.

Maybe it’s time to take a break, Altar man. Your’re starting to make some assumptions and accusations that are not advancing the Kingdom of God in any way, shape, or form. Some people just like to kneel, okay? Everyone is different, okay?

I have to agree. It’s difficult not to be angry at not being able to receive Christ with expressed humility, but it would take even greater humility to obey the priest and offer your pain to Christ for His use (maybe to convert the hearts of priests and bishops 😉

This is not Protestantism. We don’t choose which parts of the Church’s instructions we are going to follow. It’s that simple yet pride gets in the way, time and time again.

Indeed, altar rails are not prohibited. The presence of an altar rail helps to separate the sanctuary from the body of the church, setting it apart as a sacred space.

My own parish does have an altar rail. Before the change to the GIRM, we knelt at the altar rail for communion at daily Mass. After the change to the GIRM, we stand at the altar rail for communion at daily Mass. It’s not a problem, and it makes for uniformity of practice, as well as following the GIRM.

Nope, it’s not “okay.” It’s wrong not to follow the Church’s instructions. It doubly wrong to suggest we know what’s “better” than the Church does.

These same people who insist on kneeling (despite the instructions of the Church) should make every effort to refrain from commenting about other liturgical delicts and abuses.
 
Actually, it is okay to kneel. It’s done in my church all the time. I haven’t noticed the people who kneel in my church being particularly disobediant. They are the most devout folks in the church. None of them use birth control, they show up for all the Holy Days, they pray the Rosary, and they go regularly to confession. Now, I’m speaking as an observer, since I’m a non-kneeler and receive communion in my hand. I also do those things, and I know who shows up for these things, and the kneeling for Communion folks disporportionately are over-represented in going to confession, coming early for the Rosary and attending Mass of Holy Days of Obligation.
 
AlterMan, I would suggest you go back and read all of your posts to date. Your tone and self rightous attitude are insulting. You have attacked me three times now. I answered once and got no response. If you read all of your responses in various threads, I would hope you could see how insulting you tend to be. I’m going to assume you are just passionate about what you say. I’m comming out and asking you to please consider how you say things to people.

It is nice to see people passionate about what they believe in ( a quality lacking these days). But how many people are going to listen to you if all you do is insult them? Please remember that it’s not just a computer screen your talking to, there are real people out there.
