To my knowledge they do not. At my original parish, they did once a month have a “hospitality Sunday”. But there is no mention of this in bulletin or said before Mass… Some people do stop and speak to the priest outside but that’s about it.
Get in the line to talk with the priest, introduce yourself and tell him you are a recent convert of Parish X, and ask him where to call to make an appointment to talk with him about some of the things you feel you ought to learn.
ETA: don’t feel overwhelmed by the length of the list! First, you probably already know some; second, several are connected with the Rosary; and third, you don’t have to memorize them to pray them.
Here is a list of the basic prayers:
Sign of the Cross
Apostle’s Creed
Our Father
Hail Mary
Doxology aka Glory be…
(Fatima Rosary Prayer)
(Hail Holy Queen)
(The above are all used in the Rosary. The best way to learn how to pray the Rosary and memorize the prayers is to see how it is structured, and then pray along with a recording.)
Other Important Prayers:
Act of Faith
Act of Hope
Act of Charity
Act of Contrition
Guardian Angel Prayer
Blessing Before Meals
Grace After Meals
All the prayers listed above are pretty set; sometimes there are minor variations.
Below:
You also need a Morning Prayer and an Evening Prayer. There are lots of different ones of these.
In addition, you will want to make a *short *examination of conscience (2–5 minutes) each night and pray an Act of Contrition for these sins.
Other Basic Prayers:
St Michael the Archangel prayer
Come Holy Spirit (very good to pray before learning or meditative prayer)
Angelus
How to find these prayers:
Search for *Catholic Name of Prayer: *i.e., *Catholic Morning Offering: *I always include Catholic at the beginning to increase my chances of getting relevant returns. Also, you can find Rosary recitals on Youtube; they often have the prayer written on the video, or perhaps a meditation connected to the mystery.
These prayers are (iirc) all at the beginning of the Baltimore Catechism, the upper levels, not the first ones (I am not sure about the lowest-level ones).
This version has several of the basic prayers; note: 1. the prayer section is just after the Table of Contents but not listed in the T/C; and 2. since this is very old, it does not include some changes, most importantly, the Confiteor is different now, and the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary are not included as they are in the resource below.
Also, there are often
little prayer booklets which contain all these as well as some others.
There are also many booklets
and online resources on just the Rosary.
