Future of The Church - Next Pope

As to everything else, what he does and how he doese it, that will depend on his gifts. We’re not clones. Popes are individuals with individual gifts, individual priorities, individual points of view and individual agendas. They are not the pupppets of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit protects them from teaching error, but leaves them free to use their talents.

I pray that the next pope will be faithful to the talents that God has given him and will have the wisdom necessary to use them well. If he can’t fix everything, another pope will follow who will pick up another piece and another and another.

The pope’s job is like that of a mother. When she finishes the laundry it’s time for the dishes. When she finishes those, it’s time for supper. Then it’s time for homework and by the time the kids are in bed, there are more dishes and so forth. Think of the Church like a home and the pope as a homemaker. Now with that image in mind, find me a home where everything is done or a mother who can do it all.

Our archbishop turns 75 this coming year and I will use the above insights into what to pray for as he retires and we eventually get a new archbishop.

I always amazed on how the Holy Spirit reared the Church trough John Paul II and Benedict XVI.
When John Paul II enter the stage, the whole world was plague with the terror of communism, young people want to create a whole new world order, sexual revolution gaining momentum.
Enter John Paul II, which actively proclaimed Christ, showing what true humanity should be by looking at Christ. Enter the Theology of the Body, a brilliant commentary on the Humanae Vitae. After that communism largely down. A new generation of young people that very close to the Church start blossoming.
He was no perfect administrator, always a pro and cons of what he did.
Yet from larger perspective, 100 years after we all passed away, the world will remember only those big points and see how well suit his existence in that era, like a piece of puzzle.

Then we have Benedict XVI. The enemy is different now, it is secularism and relativism. We have yet a person that fit the position. I amazed reading his books. Not always easy to digest, but very critical. Always have the heart of problem properly stated.

Are these people a kind of coincidence in history?
I believe the Holy Spirit knows his job and more than capable doing his job.
I believe that He directed the Church with his schedule on hand. From our perspective changes comes slowly. From a split of 2000 year history, well, perhaps it is fast enough.

So I won’t be worry. Perhaps my death will come faster than the next conclave. Enough if I say, “You are the Boss, Lord. Thank you that my worries and expectation never a matter for your decision making, so I can just enjoy my own life with you.”

I would go with Pope Michael Augustine, at least that’s the name I would choose. Let us hope that would never happen I think I would quit the first day

Sirach 10:4 The government of the earth is in the hand of the Lord, and over it he will raise up the right leader for the time.

I resurrected this thread because I agreed with what you said above. I thought it was an interesting perspective and in tune with the above verse from the Bible!
