My wife bought Skyrim for one of my sons and Rocksmith along with a Fender Squire for our youngest. She is an Elder scroll fan and well, I play guitar as does my oldest. I think we are going to wear out Rocksmith. 👍

hi there,

my personal overall answer on the elder scrolls games (mainly oblivion and above all skyrim and the two dlcs, that is dawnguard and dragonborn) is:

they are filled with fictionial occult elements, and that is the wicked thing about them: the daedric deities can have quite a strong effect on players whose morality is lets say less developed. these evil god-like entities lure the player to do some nasty stuff (kill someone, sacrifice someone etc.) in order to get mighty items. the player also has the opportunity to perform conjuration magic, that is calling nasty creatures from the daedra’s realm to tamriel. another if not the most evil aspect of the game is the magic skill of enchanting magic, which works by forcing souls of animals or humans into so called soul gems, which then serve as kind of a battery for magic weapons, i.e. if you want to use a magic weapon for a longer time you will at some point have to refill it with a filled soulgem - whoever came up with that idea at bethesda is really quite a wicked person. another nasty thing about skyrim especially are the lovely designed finishing animations such as decapitating your enemy with an axe and so on. for me that would have made a clear 18+game.

so far bethesda has managed to give an evil ending to the game so do not read on if you should choose to play skyrim and its two dlcs

the player finally becomes a servant of a daedric entity in exchange for the bad dragonborn - wherever that would make a difference. i’ d really love to ask the designers at bethesdas where they got the inspiration for the dark and extremely occult elemtents and why they consider them important to their game.

as a mini excuse one could argue that almost every decision in the game depends on your free will and therefore it’s simply up to you
to play the game at all 😉

Last time I checked, Mora didn’t tell me to reduce the nutbar in the igloo into ashes. Nutbar did it to himself. (With me bearing this look when it happened: o_O) Besides, why kill innocent civilians for the Mer blood when you’ve got all the dumb bandits and random challengers wanting to tear you a new one?

My atronarchs are answerable only to me. I need no pact with any daedra.

you have no qualms killing an animal for its fur, claws, or eyes but cry when it using its life force?

Oh no, I prefer seeing them fly as they are set ablaze by my Firebolt. >BD

Maybe because Mora doesn’t think you (the player) will be far less rebellious. (Stupid thing to assume given my last response to him when he gave one his books for the first time. The major difference though is that I’d rather not have anything to do with either the gods or daedra of the Elder Scrolls universe.)

Lovecraft says hi.

Lines obviously ripped from a non-player’s perspective. Not exactly the first thing I’d recommend giving as a first post.

uhm, you have not really understood the problem, which is extremely ambiguous. I®ve been a video gamer for 22 years so I know what I®m talking about and nope I didn®t “rip the line from a non-video-gamer”. A good example is your comment on the killing of an animal in the game. Trapping its soul is something very different from killing it for whatever sake. As you know the sould is considered the immortal part of every being and as such belongs to God - in this case of course to the fictional Gods or All-maker whatsoever of the elderscrolls universe. But this does actually not make the crucial point since the decision to act in an occult or evil way in the video game is part of yourself playing the character in the game
don®t blame your avatar 😉

I said non-player, not non-gamer. Unless you come up front and say you’ve played Skyrim, I cannot take your position seriously.
A good example is your comment on the killing of an animal in the game. Trapping its soul is something very different from killing it for whatever sake. Not necessarily. Animals are animals. They’re not exactly entitled to the same right as human souls. In fact, plenty of the souls I harvest for my own weapons come from animals who wanted to kill me! Rather fitting for those blasted wolves, spiders, and bears to be sent to the Soul Cairn.
But this does actually not make the crucial point since the decision to act in an occult or evil way in the video game is part of yourself playing the character in the game

So
 self-defense is evil?
