{I do not believe this discussion is worth the read. There ARE officially approved Marian apparition places in the world - why spend time discussing on that is not 100% approved?}

Well I reckon that if Garabandal is true it has amazing consequences for the Church and the world and our day to day lives so why not discuss it? It doesn’t really matter to me whether people believe or not but I do know that that is Bishop del Val in the photo, that he has knowingly been interviewed for a Garabandal magazine, these are facts, not opinion or conjecture.
By the way, while I’m at it, another fact not well know is that Doctor Morales who was much resposible for early negative judgements, subsequently delivered a lecture in Santander with the permission of the same bishop in which he stated his belief in the events putting them in his mind on a par with Lourdes & Fatima.
Please cite your source for the information on Dr Morales.

Because we are guest on this website. As guest, we should obey the rules which are no discussion of unapproved apparitions.

So

So? His mind is not the how or what the decision of the Church is. It is unapproved.

There were people genuinely asking about the status of the apparition on this thread so I offered what info I could.

I don’t think the Vatican has ever issued a ruling on Garabandal. I personally don’t trust it.

Is this a true quote?

I have seen it written many times.

Obviously it is wrong to us now.

“After His Holiness Paul VI, there will be only two more popes before the end of the present period (el fin de los tiempos) which is not the end of the world. The Blessed Virgin told me so, but I do not know what that means.” Such are the words of Garabandal’s principal seer, Conchita on August 27, 1981.

QUOTE=jmjconder;Article did not give any evidence

It happened, that’s all I can say.

Yes, the quote sounds accurate & was originally stated in respect of 3 popes around the time of the election of Pope John XXXIII, and many people have made interpretations based on what she said. One interpretation is that it means that with the death of Pope John Paul II a particular era has come to an end & we are now opening an era when the prophesied events are going to commence. There is a learned commentary on this matter by Fr Francois Turner (now deceased). I am sorry but I do not have a link to offer at the moment.

Off topic…Just sayin’ if you’ve every been to Medugorje you couldn’t refute it. It is a special place of peace and I’m a septic.

There are a number of profound approved apparitions that are credible. Like Our Lady of Good Help in Wisconsin approved in December of 2012 right here in the USA. It is worthy of devotion. Check it out.
Are you sure of date it was approved? Or is December of 2012 a mistype? 🙂

Here is an interesting resource: stjosephpublications.com/manuscripts_page.htm

A few pieces of information caught my attention. For instance, the following section from Father Ramon Andreu’s notebook stjosephpublications.com/book_manuscripts_pages/Fr_Ramons_Diary_Spanish_2.htm) stood out:

"On June 18, 1961, the history begins with visions that include mystical phenomena, corraborated by thousands of people among whom are theologians, priests, doctors, and men of the village. All have seen, except for rare exceptions, the intervention of Our Mother in Heaven. As a result, there is a spiritual current that cleanses the piety of the assistants, the converts, etc.

On August 26th of the same year, Bishop Doroteo Fernández’s Apostolic Administrator published the first note, which said this:

"Before the constant questions we made about the naturality of the happenings that have occurred in San Sebastián de Garabandal, and with the desire to orient the faithful in the right interpretation of these times. We believe ourselves obligated to study the happenings as a pastoral duty. With this end we name a Commission of people recognized for their prudence and knowledge of doctrine to inform us, with a guarantee of objectivity and competence regarding the happenings. ** In view of the report that has been presented to us, we believe that it is premature to make a definitive judgment in pronouncing the natural origin of the phenomena in question. There will be nothing right now. We are obligated to affirm the supernatural origin of the events that have occurred there. **In view of this, and with the condition of a definitive judgment of the facts that are produced in the future, we declare:
  1. It is our desire that the priests, diocesan as well as those not from the diocese, and the religious of both sexes, will abstain from going to San Sebastián de Garabandal at present.
  2. We advise the Christian village not to frequent the mentioned location without an ecclesiastical report about the situation.
With these provisional measures we certainly don’t hinder divine action over souls, but the opposite effect. We take away the spectacular character of the happenings, and enable the light of the truth. Doroteo, A. de Santander—Santander August 26, 1961.”

Another section from From Father Ramon’s notebook (stjosephpublications.com/book_manuscripts_pages/Fr_Ramons_Diary_Spanish_2.htm) that stood out was this:

“The date of the warning is unknown, but Conchita, the Bishop, and the Pope know the date of the Miracle, as does the congregation of the Holy Office. Conchita declared it in Rome before this Vatican organization. With this note made, we are at the date of the announced ecstasy, June 18, 1965. It was produced, and I was an eyewitness.”

From Medjugorie website:

After the commission findings were made public in 1991, Pope John Paul II retired Bishop Zanic of his duties and handed over the responsibility to investigate and render a final decision on Medjugorje to a hand picked commission of Bishops. It is the current belief that this commission will not issue a final decision or continue its investigation until the apparitions have ceased. But of great importance is the last statement that they rendered in 1993 which states:

“We bishops, after a three-year-long commission study accept Medjugorje as a holy place, as a shrine. This means that we have nothing against it if someone venerates the Mother of God in a manner also in agreement with the teaching and belief of the Church. . . Therefore, we are leaving that to further study. The Church does not hurry.” (Glas Koncila, August 15, 1993).

The Medjugorie website has an agenda and citing something from 1993 is meaningless.
Three Bishops Commissions have extensively investigated and declared there is no evidence of any supernatural happenings there. That is the Church decision.

Have you notified the Vatican’s Medjugorje Commission it has already been decided so they can all go home?

I really find it hard to understand that the supporters of these apparitions don’t understand what is meant by a Church decision.

You and others seem to think the Church has not made a decision yet on Medjugorie and that the decision is to be made by the CDF in Rome. That is wrong.
The competent Church authorities are the local Bishops. They have had three Commissions extensively investigate and have declared there is no evidence of any supernatural happenings in Medjugorie. That IS the Church decision.
The reason the CDF has become involved is because of the controversy and division among the faithful (this is what Satan delights in causing) and their purpose is to establish if the decision already made is correct or not.
The Church decision made by the local Bishops is valid, and stands in full force and effect unless the CDF overturns it. Nobody can say a decision has not yet been made on Medjugorie. It has and remains in force as we speak.

As I read these past postings, it is very clear that people do not know what they are talking about concerning Church authority over private revelations. There is so much false information about private apparitions it boggles my mind. People are playing Pope when they tell other people what they can and cannot do. Concerning Church authority over private apparitons, it’s not the local Bishop, but the Pope himself that has the final say. People need to learn more about their Church before posting. Much false information.
