Neither will Powdermilk Biscuits or BeBop-a-ReBop Rhubarb Pie. Seriously, this makes me sad. I really enjoyed Prairie Home Companion and Garrison Keillor. I saw him twice in person. Is everyone in show biz and politics a pervert? There’s no one normal left. 🙁

Yeah, agree. Abnormal is the new normal. Or maybe is simply people. This forum is a good cross section. Sigh.

Read the story

There was a single incident which on my read showed no sexual intention.

I’d describe it more as a random accident, which was immediately apologized for.

This is starting to get ridiculous…fair enough for those men who expose themselves or other overtly sexual overtures towards women…they should be exposed…(no pun intended) for their behavior…no wonder homosexuality is becoming a norm…men will become afraid to even look at a woman without him being accused of mentally undressing her thereby causing her deep distress which can only be alleviated by a sizable monetary payment…women will see all men as depraved perverts who will be banned from the land of Lesbian except those chosen few required for reproductive purposes.

I think a lot of these men force themselves on young attractive women because they feel their chances are pretty good that their advances will be welcomed, being famous and powerful celebrities. Matt Lauer is fairly attractive (Garrison Keillor not so much), but given that strangers are probably always coming up to him for autographs he may think his status as a famous television personality gives him an edge an uncelebrity Matt Lauer would never have.

Having had a close friend accused of these things, I know that just the accusation can be devastating. Effectively no need for a trial as they will be scorned forever regardless of the veracity of the accusations.

If anyone is falsely accused. They must get a lawyer ASAP! Sue for slander. We have courts and we demand evidence.

Once the accusation is made, perhaps prison time goes on the board. Loser in court gets the prison time.

That’s what he described, what he chose to talk about. We haven’t heard anything specific from the woman but there are multiple allegations.

Yes, that will work well for the poor and marginalized groups.

…and yet the highest ranking office holder in this country, with far more credible allegations still holds his job…go figure.

I thought the article also quoted MPR where they said there were no other incidents.
Also, he sent her an apology email and she replied accepting, so there should be some evidence.

For those who are not from the U.S. could you provide some further context?

The article link gives all the context for the incident.

The person is a famous NPR (National Public Radio) program host and author. He’s had a weekly music & humor program for maybe 30+ yrs on NPR.
