Los Angeles, CA (LifeNews.com) – Gary Coleman’s ex-wife said in a new interview that she pulled the plug on the actor last week because she didn’t want him ending up like Terri Schiavo. The comments have sparked an outcry from pro-life advocates, who are also upset by continued mainstream media misreporting on Terri.

Shannon Price told TMZ in a video interview the day after Coleman’s death,
“[The doctors] said even if they did take a chunk out of his brain, he would not be the same. He would be basically like Muhammed Ali.”

“Be in my situation. I mean, look what happened with Terri Schiavo. I always think of her case, always, when it comes to this. Gary was gone,” Price added. “And he would have died sooner or later anyway from that.”

She told TMZ, “I don’t want people to be so hard on me, thinking I had to pull the plug too early. He wouldn’t have made it anyway. His heart would have just given out. I don’t want people to sit there and think I’m a b----, and that I didn’t care about him.”

After citing Price’s quotes to TMZ, the New York Daily News “reported” that “Schiavo, of Florida, languished in a coma for years before her husband won a drawn-out court battle to pull the plug.”

But pro-life blogger Jill Stanek says that’s not true, because Terri was never on life support – she merely had assistance eating and drinking.

“For the gazillionth time, Terri Schiavo was not brain dead when a FL judge ordered her dehydrated and starved to death in 2005,” Stanek said.

Pray for this sadly misguided woman & all those who “legally” murder innocent people for profit & convenience!

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

Was Gary in a coma, or reliant on life support? I think what she maybe talking about is what brougt Terri to her condition?

‘An autopsy on Terri Schiavo backed her husband’s contention that she was in a persistent vegetative state, finding that she had massive and irreversible brain damage and was blind, the medical examiner’s office said Wednesday.’

“The brain weighed 615 grams, roughly half of the expected weight of a human brain,” he said. “This damage was irreversible, and no amount of therapy or treatment would have regenerated the massive loss of neurons.”

Am I the only one who’s suspisious of Coleman’s ex wife?

Something about her, something about this whole situation, its just not right.

Thank you for the proof that she was not brain dead.👍 Brain damged is still very much alive!

Her brain was 1/2 the size of a normal human brain. Brain damaged appears to be an understatement.

You are correct though, there was enough brain function that allowed her to breathe and beat her heart.

Without medically intrusive interventions and technology, she could not have survived.

There is definitely something off about her. She sold pics of his body to the tabloids last week as well.

I wonder what Muhammond Ali feels about her comments. He seems to be living a pretty active life despite being affected by Parkinson’s.

Sounds to me like she’s desperately trying to justify her decision.

Initially yes.

But at the time she was murdered, and that’s exactly what it was, the only “intrustive” medical intervention she had was a peg tube, which is a simple tube that goes into the stomach through the abdoman. Lots of people live with them.

She was physically alive, the level of her brain injury is really quite moot when one considers the only reason she died when she did was because the peg was removed and she died of dehydration and stravation.

Without the feeding tube…the peg as you call it, she could not have lived.

Thank you again for the affirmation.

Without the tube, she could not have lived.
They had to take action to murder her.
Specifically, they had to remove the tube.

If I stop feeding my infant, he would die as well…
Your baby would cry, alerting you to the fact she was hungry and we’re not talking about a developing baby. We’re talking about a fully grown adult who was in and would forever remain in a persistent vegitative state.

Without the tube, she could not have lived.
They allowed nature to take its course and removed the medical intervention.
She was unable to swallow food or water or feed herself and she died.

That’s a terrible physical condition to be in. I also found the following:

One of the central issues in Terri Schiavo’s condition is the existence or absence of her brain, specifically her cerebral cortex. The cardiac arrest which Terri suffered halted the blood flow to her brain. This, in turn, killed brain cells and has led to the long term deterioration of her brain as her body reabsorbs dead tissue. A CT scan taken in 1996 revealed profound abnormalities. An EEG performed reveals that there is no electrical activity. In 2002, a CAT scan demonstrated massive atrophy. In place of normal brain tissue, almost all that is left are connective tissues and spinal fluid. Aside from a brain stem that keeps some autonomic functions going, she simply doesn’t have a brain. All of the independent doctors hired by the courts have agreed: Terri Schiavo is in a Persistent Vegetative State. No other conclusion is possible given the absence of a cerebral cortex.

I agree, the evidence is conclusive. The rhetoric, not so much.

There are many patients who are unable to “cry”. A mute would not be able to cry out. Yes, Terri’s brain was damaged, but no one can say that she would have been like that forever, medical science makes breakthroughs every other week. Yet, even without any chance of recovery, the process of how they killed her is utterly repugnant. Her parents were willing to take the burden of the costs and do what they needed to do to care for her.

Without the peg she would have died, but if there was so much as a hint of awareness, her death would have been horrific. The least they could have done was given her some sub-cut fluids for hydration, she still would have straved, but it woudlnt’ have been as nasty as it was as it accompanied dehyrdation.

She was unable to swallow food or water or feed herself and she died.
Eyewitnesses to the women state otherwise.
Feeding herself was out of the question, but swallowing food and water was something that she had been doing for some time.
